By the time Hinata and Hanabi reached the hospital (they had been contacted because Neji's emergency number was Hinata's), Tenten was done giving a report to a man, most likely the police, about what happened. Her leg was casted because of the bad sprain it suffered.
Neji had yet to awaken but Sasame had. Fortunately, knowing that Neji was unconscious because of her made her somber and retell the truth to the police officer. She confessed attempted murder but that was not the only thing Tenten wanted her to confess.
Hinata shifted nervously from one foot to the next. She glanced at the occupants of the room from an angry Tenten to a guilty Sasame to a confused Neji and back at Tenten again. Her eyes screamed bloody murder! The pale eyed girl herself had to be there because she was also involved in the dramatic relationship between Tenten and Neji. Hinata didn't think she did anything wrong...except outing Neji maybe.
"Is there a reason for our gathering here?" Hanabi broke the silence that ensued in the room. Oh right, Hanabi was there too.
"I think Fuuma-san has something to tell us, right Fuuma-san?" Tenten emphasised the name with a heavy doze of killer intent.
"H-hai!" Sasame squeaked. "I– I am not pregnant." She whispered.
"I'm sorry, what was that?!" Tenten subtlety threatened.
"I am not pregnant!"
The room was silent.
"Oh. My. G!" Hanabi was the first to react. Hinata was shocked and so was Neji who didn't know whether to look relieved or angry or confused.
"W-wait, I don't understand. The sonogram..." The long haired man started.
"...was fabricated." Tenten finished for him.
Sasame had the decency to look at her feet in shame. "We never had sex that night." She confessed. "I paid the bartender to drug your drink and made my hair into Tenten-san's hairstyle so that your intoxicated mind would mistake me for her. You never even touched me even though you were drugged."
Neji gaped. Many things were in his mind to say. He wanted to yell, he wanted to rant, he wanted to say a lot but the only thing his mouth could produce was, "why?"
"You never even spared me a glance!" Sasame screamed out in frustration. "I fell in love with you when I met you and I tried my best to be perfect in your eyes but every time, it was only about Tenten-san you spoke of. It became annoying so I tried to separate you." Tears fell from the ginger's eyes. Her manicured nails dug into the fabric of her clothes in anger and frustration.
"You tried to separate us? Even back then?" Neji asked incredulously.
"Yes." Sasame confessed. "I am responsible for the misunderstanding between you and Tenten-san."
• Five years ago... •
"Ah Fuuma-san, welcome to Konoha." The pale eyed man known as Hyuga Hiashi greeted her father once they were led into the living room by the servants. The men shook hands and shared a joke that nobody but them understood because they were the only ones laughing.
"This is my daughter, Sasame." Her father introduced.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Hyuga-san." Sasame bowed duly.
"So polite." Hiashi complemented. The man gestured to three people in the room that Sasame never realised were there until now. "These are my daughters, Hinata and Hanabi."
