Just a little bit of author's note:
First, I wish you all my readers compliments of the season and also Happy new year. I thought the pandemic was going to end last year but sadly it goes on, so I sincerely hope everyone's staying safe.
Due to the fact that this story is following the pandemic, a lot of the conversations are going to be via calls, but there will also be physical meetings.
I hope you all will like it.

"Students, can you hear me?", Our English lecturer asked in the middle of the lesson.

A chorus of "Yes, sir" came through everyone's un-muted speakers, before it was muted again and the lecture continued. But not before he instructed us to switch on our videos, to make sure we were listening attentively.

"As I was saying, the third type of irony is the Situational irony. Here, the proposed situation is reversed. An example is the monster under the bed being scared of the child, which is ordinarily supposed to be the other way...", He droned on, as I received a direct message from Daisy.

Way to go, teach. Our videos may be on, but that doesn't mean we're paying attention.

Daisy: So what was it you said happened? (Direct message from Daisy)

Feigning ignorance, I replied, Amelia: Happened where? (Direct message to Daisy)

Daisy: Don't avoid it. The kiss, of course.

Amelia: Ohh...that. It was just a kiss, nothing special.

Daisy: You're lying. It sounded really special when you said it over the phone.

Amelia: Okay, fine. I'll tell you after the class.

Daisy: This class is boring, what are we doing with irony types? Only twenty minutes more, can't wait.

Hopefully twenty minutes. Ever since zoom classes started, our lecturers had abandoned ending at the appropriate time instead preferring to take up to ten minutes more for attendance. According to them, there was nothing to rush to as we were all in our 'dorms'.

Twenty five minutes later, our lecturer ended the class and immediately logged us all out. Like clockwork, Daisy immediately requested a video call.

"Hey girl.", I started as the call connected.

"So, tell me about it.", She hastily replied, putting away her notes.

I sighed audibly. "There's no patience with you at all."

"Nope, none at all. Spill."

"Okay. So I was there crying about my dad and all, when he grabbed my chin and made me look into his eyes. And the next thing I know, his lips were on mine.", I explained, tying to sound nonchalant.

I paused dramatically before going on, "I was surprised because of the suddenness and also because he didn't make an effort to move his lips, like he was waiting for permission. I think he got my yes when I didn't pull away, because he started moving his lips over mine. Teasing yet bold and hot. His lips were everywhere, covering every inch of mine. Daisy, it was..."

"Awnn, continue. I'm living my first kiss through you." She cooed, making kissing faces.

I laughed in response. "Believe me, you need to experience it. It was beautiful, he held me steady by my face and then my arms like he knew I would sink. I started repeating his moves and that's when he broke it off."

Daisy's raised her brows, her mouth forming an o. "Why? Didn't he like it?"

I shook my head, "Not that. He said he didn't want to go too far. That he didn't even plan on kissing me, it just happened."

"Oh. That's...weird. It sounds weird to me."

"Me too. Afterwards, he got weirder and said something about me getting better before he left."

"Seriously! Just like that? Not fair. He steals a kiss and then leaves you hanging." Daisy frowned.

I just shrugged, "I'm not too angry. I mean, I can say my first kiss was amazing and besides he can't avoid me. He'll come back and explain, right?"

Daisy didn't look convinced, but she smiled and wiggled her brows. "He better. I can tell you had an electrifying first kiss."

"Yes, it was. But aside that, how's Leo? I haven't heard from him for a while."

Daisy suddenly looked uncomfortable, turning her head sideways like she didn't want to look at me.

"Well, he's fine. I don't talk to him as often anymore, but I know he's doing well." She finally replied, fiddling the sides of her Apple laptop.

"Huh. I feel like he's avoiding me and I don't know why."

Daisy's sudden stare and frantic moving of her hair told me I was right, or almost right.

"Daisy? Is he avoiding me? Why?" I asked, worried I already knew the answer.

"Yes, he is." She admitted forlornly. "He hasn't gotten used to you and Jason yet, and he doesn't want to create a scene."

"Who's there?" I asked the person tapping at my door.

"It's delivery." A familiar feminine voice replied smoothly.

I opened the door, and signed for my weekly delivery of groceries from the supermarket. Cami was delivering this week, and after the usual pleasantries, she left. Since school had given everyone a break from work due to the pandemic, I didn't talk to my ex colleagues as much.

Another tap at my door had me going back to check what Cami forgot.

"Hey, did you forget... Oh it's you." I said, seeing Jason at the door.

"How were your classes today?", He asked calmly.

"Oh, the same old stuff. Our English teacher was talking about irony...It was fine." I didn't want to go into details, especially as I was a bit mad and my smile was doing the opposite of showing it.

He walked further into the room and sat on a folding chair. "Are you angry at me?"

I hesitated before answering, "Why would I be?"

"Because I left you hanging after kissing you like that." He said, taking my hands and pulling me towards the chair across him.

"Well, yes. I'm kind of peeved about it, you didn't give an explanation for that." I replied.

"I know that." He admitted, as he kept his eyes on my hands tracing circles on them. "I didn't want to go that fast with you, not during the first kiss. Also, I felt like I was taking advantage of your feelings and that's why I stopped." He paused and looked directly at me, "Stopping was the last thing I wanted to do."

The blush on my cheeks must have been apparent, especially with my smile. 'He likes me' played in my head over and over again as be drew closer to me.

"And why would that be?" I asked slyly, knowing I would like the answer.

"Amelia, you're one of the most wonderful people I know. You have a way of making everything around me brighter, and that's why I want you in my life. As my girl."

He continued, "Amelia, will you make me happy and be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, I will." At this point, excitement surged through my veins. I was so happy, especially when he stood us up and hugged me.

"I'll make you very happy, Lia. I promise."
