As I walk into the interview room, I can feel my heart thundering away. I can only hope I pass this interview.
"Good evening, my name is Amelia Sanders." I say to the middle-aged woman sitting in the room. I think she's the only one who is going to interview me. I feel doubly thrilled and scared by that. She is dressed quite corporately, with a gray suit skirt and a very neat bun on her head. She looks nice though.
"Do have a seat, Miss Sanders." The woman says. As I take a seat, the woman continues, "So tell me why you want to work in Fashionista.""I have always had a passion for designing. I want to have the experience in designing. I don't really know much apart from drawing clothes, but I want to learn everything right from drawing to sowing to designing. I know a job here in fashionista would grant me all these. I'm very willing to learn and take instructions and corrections, ma." I finish, hoping it would be convincing enough.
"Okay, that's good. I also have to ask personal questions, your family, school, friends? If we give you this job, we won't want any unforeseen incidents." I quickly and calmly told her about my dad, and my friends. I was sure no one would be of any bother.
She smiled as I finished, "Will you be okay with the working conditions and pay?" the woman asks.
"Yes, I am. It gives enough time for school work and the pay is okay."
"Okay then, I'll get back to you. The required items have been submitted?"
"Yes, ma."
"Okay then, have a wonderful day." the woman says, smiling. I already like this woman.
As I leave the office, I silently hope for the best. I quickly sign my name with the receptionist and leave.
"Have a wonderful day." I say to the receptionist who smiles at me and wishes me the same.
I decide to walk home. Kathy told me to call her once I was done, but what's the use? I will go to her house now, I think to myself.
My mind floats back to the interview and how it went. It was quite easy, I've a feeling there will be more to this job. As I'm thinking about the answers I gave, I bump into someone.
"Sorry, I didn't look." the person says, while I think about how I probably wasn't looking at where I was going.
I stand up to look at the person I bumped into, who also helped me pick up my belongings, and it's a guy. Probably around my age, brown hair, blue eyes, and a well-defined jawline. Overall, super cute.
I quickly stop staring and realize that he's smirking, he must have noticed my stare. I'm so sure my cheeks turn red.
"Sorry again." He says, now looking sorry. He looks cute though. Gosh, what am I thinking?
"Oh, don't be. I was the one not looking. Thanks for the help with my things." I say, eager to get out of the conversation. I'm not good with talking to boys.
"No problem. My name is Cole." He says, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Amelia." I reply, shaking his hand. "I have to go now, it was nice meeting you." I continue.
"Same here, Amelia." Cole says as I start to leave.
Well, this day just keeps getting more eventful. First, I get a job opening, go for the interview and I just met a cute guy. Oh well, that means I have a lot to tell Kathy.
I soon get to Kathy's house, it's not far from mine. I only knock once and Kathy is at the door, it seems she's been waiting.
"Amelia, come in. How was the interview? Tell me all the details." Kathy says as soon as I enter the house.
The house is quiet, her parents are not home yet. Sometimes, if her mom is home I get cookies, her mom loves baking. I remember my mom during those times, she used to love baking as well.
The house is neat as always. I love the house, you can tell a happy family lives here. It has life, unlike mine.
"Amelia, come in. How was the interview? Tell me all the details." Kathy says bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, it was great. They have beautiful designs, I just couldn't get my eyes off one red gown. The receptionist was nice and the interview was alright. They said they would call me if I was accepted."
"That's great. I knew you would scale through the interview, I'm sure they will give you the job." Kathy says. That's one of the reasons I love Kathy, she's optimistic. That balances my frequent pessimism.
"Anyway something else happened. I bumped into a guy on the way here and..."
"Was it Jack or some other guy? Is he cute? Does he look like a god?" Kathy asks, cutting me off.
"Oh Kathy, your love for cute guys. Anyway, it wasn't Jack and yes he is cute, but I don't know about looking like a god. He helped me pick up my stuff that fell, it was nice of him. His name is Cole anyway." I say, thinking of the smile he gave me.
"Oh gosh, I already love the name Cole. Sounds like the name of a hot model. I hope you see him again, I want to see him for myself." Kathy replies, looking like she's about to fly.
"Why?"
"Oh don't be bothered, I won't take him. I just want to see the guy that Amelia Sanders finally called cute, you never call guys cute. You always call them average." Kathy looks serious now.
"I don't always do that." I protest. "To prove it, I have the pictures of some cute guys." I say as I reach into my bag for my phone, even though I know the 'cute' guys in my photo album aren't more than 2 or 3. You could say I'm picky.
"Wow, you have guy pics in your phone. Congrats, you are finally a teen girl, I used to suspect you were a boy. But then there are also gays..." Kathy continues, as I realize that my phone isn't in my bag.
"Kathy, I can't find my phone, it's not in my bag." I say, confused.
"What? Have you searched properly? Wait, let me check." Kathy says, now checking the bag.
"Oh gosh, I must have dropped it when I bumped into that guy. What if I get an important call, Kathy? What if he stole it?" I say, hoping that none of what I just said has happened.
"Let's still search, it has to be somewhere." Kathy says.
10 minutes later, my phone hasn't been found. We've checked everywhere, even in her room even though none of us has left the sitting room since I came.
"It seems like your phone was among the things that fell, Amelia. We should go and search for it, if we're lucky we could find Cole there with the phone."
"Okay, I hope so." I say, as we both walk through the door.
Do you think the phone will be found? Will Kathy get to see cute guy, Cole?
I was wondering, should the next chapter be in Amelia or Cole's POV or even Kathy's? Let me hear your thoughts.
