"And the room is just as we left it." Leo observed, as he dragged in my boxes.

I groaned, "Yes, unfortunately as we'll have to clean to make this habitable."

My roommate smirked in response, bending to pick up a spare bucket outside and a rag. "Let's get to work, shall we?"

*****

Like everyone knows, cleaning is no easy feat. Given the time we had stayed at home, the room was a total mess. By the time we were done, the room was swept and mopped, the walls cleared of dead insects, dust and cobwebs, the sheets aired out, and it was already night time.

Time for...

"Roomie, let's go get dinner." Leo suggested, dropping the rag he held.

"You read my mind, but we do look dirty." I said, gesturing to both our outfits. The top I wore had turned to a dirtier shade of blue, while Leo's black shirt had specks of white dust and water on it.

He shrugged, "Who cares? We're still the hottest pair on campus."

"I like your confidence, it's rubbing off on me. Let's go." I agreed, grabbing my purse and the door keys to lock the door.

"So we start classes tomorrow, right?" I asked Leo as we walked down the stairs.

He thought for a moment before  answering, "No, I don't think so. I heard the results are coming out tomorrow."

"Finally! I've been waiting for that news, I feel anxious right now." I replied, feeling conflicted with my happiness at finally knowing my fate and fear at seeing the grades.

"Why?" Leo questioned. "Is it because of the grades?"

"Yes of course. You know we can't do second semester without passing this exam." I explained, hastening my steps as we neared the cafeteria.

Leo stopped and grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to turn to him. "Look, we all did well in this exam. We read, we studied, we didn't sleep most of the time, and we wrote as much as we could so we'll most definitely pass. Now, let's grab food before I pass out."

I laughed at that, swatting his arm as we entered the cafeteria. The big hall still looked immaculately clean, no doubt due to the minute by minute cleaning of the floors. Even as we moved towards the counter, a middle aged woman mopped around us.

"Leo! Amelia!" A feminine voice shouted from the mass of students seated in the eating area.

Only one person called me by my full name.

"Camille!" I exclaimed, waving the standing girl who stood about ten feet away. "We're coming.", I gestured, trying to shout no more especially with the angry eyes I received.

Turning to the counter, I ordered the same thing as Leo: spaghetti with penne and vegetable sauce

Finished with that, we walked over to Camille where she sat with Helene and Mike, a classmate of ours.

"Hey Helene, Mike." I started, smiling at them as they made space for us on the table.

Leo's greeting was different. "Bro, how's it been?" He asked his two week roommate, Mike before sharing a fist bump with him. Turning over to Helene, he smiled at her and dug into his food with vigour.

"Amelia, do you know why Daisy isn't here yet?" Camille asked, looking straight at me with unblinking eyes.

I nodded, "She's coming the day after tomorrow, just felt like." I replied curtly, and went back to my eating. Daisy didn't want to resume yet, not after she went off to spend a week of spa treatments and camping in Inner Lodge with her aunt and cousins. I envied her right now, most likely in the middle of telling stories with family and roasting steak while we were here. In school.

I couldn't even call my dad to cheer me up. Since his girlfriend walked in on us, we had not had a proper conversation. The tension and anger, mostly from me was still there and I couldn't bear to drop it yet. I wasn't even ready to.

"...and the doctor said I needed to get tested as well, so they could contain me in the hospital too." I heard Leo saying, probably about his corona experience with his mom. I had zoned out again, and it was hilarious to watch the fear written on Camille's and Helene's faces. No one wanted to die, or even get infected with the virus.

After a while of listening to one another's stories, we all agreed it was time for bed. As we walked out together, Mike and Helene huddled closer together, I saw the principal coming out together of the office building with Nicole.

Again? What did these two people have in common? This was more than students principal relationship. I mean, she had a strict visitation time and no one was to defy it.

As Camille waved her 'see you later', I nodded absently and nudged Leo who was by my side typing on his phone.

"Did you see the principal and Nicole?" I asked, raising his head up and pointing in the direction I saw them.

"With Nicole?" He asked back. "I only see the principal." He answered.

"No, she's with...Nicole." I said, dumbfounded to see the principal alone walking to her car in the parking lot.

But she was just there? What happened? I needed to find out their relationship, I had a feeling it wasn't really good.

"Students, your results have been pasted. Check the boards in your classrooms to know your fate. If your name is not there, go to the principal's office and lay your complaint." The voice repeated thrice, in the main auditorium before cutting off.

The next few minutes was chaotic as students piled out of the auditorium to their various classes to check the results. Fortunately, the class representative of our class already snapped our results and sent them to our class group chat.

"Well lucky us then." Leo said, as he checked his phone beside me. "I passed, ladies. And we move into the next semester." He continued, tapping his phone to enlarge his grades.

"Oh, that's good for you. Let me check mine." I mumbled, fishing for my phone only to see numerous messages.

"Oh come on! Five hundred messages? What are they saying?" I asked no one, scrolling up to where the results were. "S..S..Sacoss...Saffron...Sandler. That's me. A...B...A...A...B...A. I passed, oh my God, I passed." I sang, grabbing Leo's arm.

The nervousness and anxiety I felt seconds ago, was washed away with relief. All my hard work really paid off, this was a 4.7 GPA. It wasn't perfect, but good enough for me. I would be walking into class tomorrow with my head held high.

"I told you we would. Should we check Daisy's own?" Leo asked, when I came down from my high.

"Okay. Let's do that, she said we should help her if it came out before she got back." I replied, scrolling to where Daisy's name was.

"Here it is. She got 4A's and 2B's, same as me. GPA of 4.7 as well." I assessed, tilting the phone up to Leo. We all scaled through into the next phase.

"This is great. Come on, let's go celebrate." Leo said, dragging me towards his car.

"Yeah, we should." I nodded. "But I need to call someone." I said, pausing at the car door.

"Oh. Okay, I'll be waiting." Leo replied forlornly, as he strolled into the car while I placed a call to my dad and Jason informing them of my success.

Like expected, Dad was overjoyed about it and promised to send me money to celebrate it. The tension between us was nonexistent, and I was glad for that. Jason was happy for me, like I knew he would be, an invited me to dinner at his place.

"Well, let's go have fun. Shall we?" I smiled at Leo as we neared Italio's pizza palace.

"Yes. Let's go."
