The next week flowed in the same way; school, then work. Vanessa and Mrs. Martins continued to teach me new stuff and Lily remained the same.

I learnt to block out her silly comments and focus on my job. I continued sketching, after which Vanessa would hand them over to Mrs. Martins who would decide if they were worthy to be created.

The rejected sketches would be given back to me with constructive criticism, while the accepted ones would be designed. The blue one I had been designing the day I saw Dela Rosa had been accepted.

I saw my first sketch in Fashionista come to life on Thursday evening, after an annoying day at school.

Vanessa told me that my design had been finished and the gown was ready. She took me to where the gown was displayed. Mrs. Martins, Dela Rosa and Lily were there looking at my gown.

I was suddenly sweaty, as I fiddled with the hem of my dress and walked over to them.

Dela Rosa was the first to notice me. "We meet again, Amelia Sanders. I was told that this is your work."

I simply nodded and smiled at her. Most of my attention was on the dress, my dress. It was a yellow off shoulder floor length evening gown with an A-line. The dress had multi-coloured flowers going down from the A-line to the waist of the gown. This gown was wow worthy.

When I was designing it, i had thought it would come out as a simple dress. Looking at the finished work, I realized that it was more than a simple dress. It was my artwork, my first creation.

"This dress is really nice, Amelia. You do have potential." Mrs. Martins said bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Yes, she does. Good job, Amelia. Who knows, you could teach me a thing or two." I turned to look at Lily, I was surprised to hear this come out of her mouth. Had she changed or was I dreaming? Anyway, it was nice to hear her say it.

All the while, Vanessa was smiling happily. I could tell she was proud. After work, we went out to celebrate along with Kathy and Charlotte.

Kathy and Vanessa instantly hit it off. I wasn't surprised, they were the same kind of people.

After my first dress, I continued designing and submitting twice as much as I had been doing before.

Two other designs of mine had been produced within the last month. A green short gown with a studded belt, this one was for a child. I had been inspired to make it when I met Susan's daughter, Daisy. She was a sweet little child whose favourite color was green. The dress was ruffled from the belt down.

The second one was like the rest, for a grown person. It was a short royal purple gown, and just like the others it was suitable for prom. It was a sleeveless, but had small straps around the neck. It was totally beaded down to the studded belt, even the straps. I liked studded belts and beaded dresses. I totally loved this dress, and so did Mrs. Martins.

"Amelia, come to my office right away."

I was about to leave for home after work. I was in a hurry because I had to stop at the groceries and buy a few foodstuffs before it got dark. I always liked shopping for food on Fridays.

I wondered why Mrs. Martins called me to her office. I was aware that Dela Rosa was still in there.

"Mrs. Martins, you asked for me."
I was correct, Dela Rosa was still in there, along with Vanessa.

"Yes, I did. Amelia, every year Fashionista does a test, a competition of sorts in the whole of America. Over 500 people like you enter the competition. After the competition, we pick out the best fifty students and send them to Rome to study a three year programme in designing."

By this time, I was giddy with excitement. If I was among the top fifty, I would go to Rome to study designing for three years. I could become the woman I always dreamed of, an A class star in designing.

"Amelia, we have seen your passion for designing. We've seen your sketches, you have great talents. Are you going to enter this competition?" Vanessa asked me. The look on her face as she looked at me was enough for me to say yes, she looked as proud as a mother would to her daughter who just passed a major exam.

I had questions, but I decided I would ask Vanessa later. For now,  I was just too happy and grateful to have been given this chance.

"Thank you all so much for this chance. Yes, I will enter and I will be sure to make you all proud."

"Okay, Vanessa will give you a form to fill when you come in for work on Monday. You can go home now." Dela Rosa said as they all smiled at me.

With three weeks to Christmas, It looked like it was going to be an eventful one this year.

"I'm going to become a designer, a very great one.
When I win this contest, I will achieve my dream.
I will..."

"You could become a very great singer too, Amelia." A familiar voice said stopping my singing just few blocks from my house.

I turned to look at the owner of the voice, Cole.
