"I made it, Dad. I'm going to Rome." I screamed, scanning the hallway for my dad. I had seen his car when I was coming in, so I knew he was at home.

"Amelia, what is it? I could hear you screaming from my room." Dad asked rubbing his eyes.

"Sorry. I passed it, Dad. My name is on the list for Rome." I replied smiling and doing a happy dance.

"I'm proud of you dear." He mumbled. "But what happens now, you're travelling to Rome? How will you get there? How will you feed, what about accommodation..."

"Dad, everything is already planned out." I answered stopping his rambling. In this very moment, Dad reminded of someone I was very close to.

I blinked rapidly, "The school fees is already paid for. The accommodation is for all 100 of us, it's like a university. As for feeding, you could send me money." I finished, smiling sheepishly and glancing at my father hopefully.

My dad relaxed his shoulders and sighed, "Alright, you'll go to Rome. When are you travelling?"

"Middle of February." I was sure my brown eyes were twinkling at this point. I was so excited.

"What? That's so soon. How will you prepare in such little time?" He groaned to which I smiled in response.

"Dad, you sound like Mom. Umm, sorry I... " I finished, starting to apologize. That was stupid of me, blurting stuff out like that.

"No, it's alright. I am sure she would be so proud of you right now." Dad said smiling a bit. "What about school? You're only done with one semester, what about the other?"

"Oh.. About that. We will take some sort of complementary test while we are in Rome. They'll then send it to our schools and we'll get our diploma. The session starts in February, they don't want us to miss anything." I explained.

"Mmm, okay. Amelia, I trust that you won't make any rash decisions when you get there. Do well and make us proud. Spend wisely, study hard and don't date any boys..."

"Dad! I'm not going today, besides why can't I date boys?" I said, a little mischievous.

"You can't, you're too young." My dad replied firmly, but I could see the corners of his mouth turning upward.

"I'm nearly b18!" I exclaimed.

"Too young." My dad finished simply as he turned away. "I need to continue the sleep you interrupted." He mumbled as he walked back to his room.

I grinned, a part of my Dad was back.

Christmas was more fun than it had been since the incident happened. I invited Kathy and her parents, Charlotte, Daisy, Vanessa, Mrs. Martins and even Cole. Dad had scowled at that, but he couldn't say much because he had surprisingly invited his friend, as he put it, Stella. I noticed the way Dad smiled more when he was around her, but I wasn't fully accepting it until I trusted her enough, and I told Dad that.

We sang Christmas songs around the tree Dad and I had decorated, ate turkey and drank a bit. I had never seen Dad that happy, and it made me happier. We then exchanged gifts and talked until everyone went home.

New year was similar except for the fact that it was just me and Dad. We talked about everything even boys, and I finally convinced my dad that I could have a boyfriend. That was after a long debate, but I was glad for it. I already missed him even though I wasn't gone yet.

*************

The next month passed by in a blur. It mainly consisted of going to my last days of high school with Kathy, Charlotte had moved to another town without informing anyone. The time I wasn't in school, I was either shopping with bestie, talking to Vanessa or researching on Rome. From what I saw, it was a nice, cosy place with a lot of history attached.

I rarely saw the other interns apart from Daisy. She told me that it was her, Lily, one male intern, and I that made it in our 'group'. It was nice that I knew some people, but a tiny part of me wished that Lily didn't make it.

Soon it was February 17th, and it was time to say goodbye. I was travelling today.

Dad and Kathy were dropping me off at the airport where I would meet with everyone else.

It was a silent ride to the airport due to the fact that I was already missing them and vice versa.

"I'm still mad that you're leaving me all alone." Kathy fumed, punching me in the arm to which I yelped. "But I understand why, and I'll support you. Do well alright? And call always or I'll match over there and pull your ears for an hour." She said, hugging me and scaring me at the same time. I was going to miss this girl...a lot.

My dad sighed, "Make us proud dear, and remember all I said. Including no boys." He said.

Oh, God. "Dad, we already agreed on that." I retorted.

"You did, I didn't. As the parent, I have the say here." He laughed a little as he said that. "Take care of yourself, pumpkin." I nodded and waved as I went to meet the rest.

"I don't think I told you before, your dad is cute." Vanessa sang out as I walked over to them.

"Eww, don't say that." I said, as I looked back at my dad and my best friend and waved one last time.

Seeing the plane made me nervous. I had travelled by plane only once, and it wasn't nice. I cried throughout the flight, and vomited once. Although I knew it wasn't the same circumstances, I was still scared.

Luckily Daisy started walking beside me and as she cracked some jokes, my nervousness subsided until I was inside the plane and preparing for take-off.

I tightened my fists and my lips trembled as I closed my eyes and waited for impact.

"Amelia, are you okay? You look scared." Daisy asked, looking over at me with concern as I pried my eyes open.

"I don't... exactly like planes." I said, sitting my eyes once more.

"Amelia, you're a big girl. This shouldn't scare you. Okay, why not just say 'I'm not scared' over and over in your head until you don't feel scared anymore. It works for me." She said cheerfully.

I thought it was a ridiculous idea, but I tried it anyway. After saying it for about three minutes, I was feeling better.

"Wow, it worked. Thanks."

"Told you. Now let's enjoy this flight, shall we?"

Finally. She's on her way to her dreams. Yayyyyy.
