Y/N and Mary reappeared in Mary's living room. „Is there any chance I'll get used to that" „I hope so" replied Mary amused „M/N didn't like it, too. But she got eventually used to it"

"You must be hungry after such a long train ride," continued Mary, "should I make dinner?" she asked smiling. As if Y/N's stomach wanted to answer her question, he let out a loud growl.

"I take that as a yes," chuckled Mary, "oh how smart you are," joked Y/N. "One more naughty thing and there's nothing at all," replied Mary with mock anger, waving with her wand in front of his face in a played threatening way.

As Mary prepared their dinner at the kitchen bar. In fact, she just conducted with her wand the knives. While one knife cut the bread, and another one chopped tomatoes and onions, Y/N remembered what he had planned to ask her.

"Mary?" said Y/N hesitantly. She indicated with a nod that she was listening. "Can I ask you something?" "Everything" she replied and turned around curiously.

"It's about my parents" began Y/N and sighed "I don't know if you heard what happened at Hogwarts this year" "Oh that" mumbled Mary and put her wand aside "hmm yes I know what happened" she continued, "Dumbledore wrote me a letter a few days ago and told me about it"

Y/N stared at her in surprise "did he?" Mary just nodded and continued "He mentioned you could have some questions,"

"So what do you want to know?" Mary sighed and sat down across from him. "Actually, I just want to know more about my ancestry," Y/N admitted reluctantly. "If Dumbledore has told you all about it you will probably know that I am apparently related to Salazar Slytherin in some way,"

Mary stayed silent and listened to him eagerly just her eyes showed a reaction when he mentioned Slytherin. Her eyes widened for a moment and she nervously glanced at Y/N but then she was her calm, curious self again.

"That's why I just want to know more about my ancestry because Mum and Dad never talked about it" Y/N finished, looking at Mary expectantly.

However, she remained silent. Finally, she cleared her throat "Well" she began slowly "I don't know much myself but I can tell you that it doesn't come from the L/N side. As you know, your mother's and my grandparents originally came from the U.S. Our parents came to Britain for work. And for the same reason, you left Britain with your parents, when you were a baby. And I stayed because I got a really good job at the ministry"

"So it has to come from Dad's side," Y/N said excitedly, "but he never mentioned it," added Y/N, a little disappointed.

"If your father didn't tell you about it, he must have had reasons for it," replied Mary sternly, as if to end the conversation.

But Y/N didn't want to and hastily went on "Which one should that be? If I'm honest, Dad ..."

"Y/N ..." tried Mary, but was interrupted in return. "Dad never talked about his family ..." he continued in a louder voice. But Mary interrupted him again. "Y/N I can't ..." "And I've never seen any pictures and ..." "Y/N" cried Mary angrily. "I can't and don't want to tell you as much about your father as you would like"

Y/N looked angrily at her and opened his mouth to say something, but Mary hurried on. "I can only tell you that he was a kind person and more loyal than anyone else. If you don't know everything, then there is a reason" "but" "NO, no but! I have nothing more to say and now let's eat, we have to get up early tomorrow, "said Mary sternly.

Y/N knew there was no point arguing with her. Mary had never yelled at him before. She was happy, always in a good mood and ready to crack some jokes. But Y/N knew she was at least as stubborn as his mother. And there was no point in asking any more questions.
