The next morning, Y/N woke up early. He got up, freshened up, and went into the common room. He straightened his tie and rubbed the tiredness from his eyes. "Good morning, Y/N" he heard a familiar voice say. He turned to see a smiling Daphne sitting on the couch.

She had a book over her knee on which she was writing on in a croll of parchment. "Morning" replied Y/N with a weak grin and sat down next to her. "You don't seem to be a morning person," she said with a laugh. Y/N shook his head and sank into the seat. Leaning his head on the backrest and glanced on her parchment.

"I haven't finished my History fo Magic essay yet," she admitted. "Then I hope for you we don't have that right away," he chuckled. Daphne gave him a half angry, half-amused look. "I hope not" "How much are you still missing?" he asked curiously. "Actually not much," she sighed. "That's the last roll so I'm almost done." "Show me," said Y/N and pulled the roll off her knee.

He skimmed the text briefly. She had written about the Witch Burnings in the 14th century. "Well then, have fun," he said with a grin and handed the essay back to her. She looked at him offended and said "You idiot, I thought you would help me now" "When did I say that?" he asked with a smile. She slapped his arm playfully. "okay, okay," he said, laughing, "I still want to experience the first day"

They spent the next half hour finishing the essay. Little by little the first Slytherins came into the common room and went up to the great hall. When they had just finished and decided to go to the Great Hall for breakfast, Blaise followed by the other Slytherin boys walked up the stairs into the common room.

Blaise raised his eyebrows in surprise and a sly grin crept onto his face. Pansy Parkinson had come into the common room too and joined Draco. Y/N, Blaise and Daphne went up to breakfast in the Great Hall,  followed by the others.

When they got to the great hall, they sat down at their table. Y/N immediately pulled bowl of cereal towards him. Professor Snape walked down the table and handed out the timetables. Y/N noted satisfied that they had now a free period, then Acient Runes, and after lunch Care of Magical Creatures.

"Nice, we have a free period" Blaise stated happily. "Really?" said Daphne, enviously inspecting Y/N's schedule. "I'm have Arithmantic right away" she added, and focused again on her toast.

Y/N looked up to inquire about the others' schedules, but found Draco and Pansy standing a little away from them, surrounded by a group of laughing Slytherins.

When Potter, Weasley and Hermione entered the Great Hall Draco did a ridiculous impression of a swooning fit and there was a roar of laughter. "Hey Potter" shrieked Pansy "Potter, the Dementors are coming Potter! Woooo!"

"They can both be very embarrassing," Y/N sighed. "Little," Blaise admitted, shaking his head. "They disappoint me," he added. Y/N looked at him confused. "Why?" "I think they can do better to provoke Potter. Very poor performance so far," he explained, sipping his juice. "Don't worry, Blaise. The year is still long. I guess there will be more to come," Y/N replied with a grin.

At that moment a letter landed in front of him in his bowl and sprinkled him with milk. Blaise burst out laughing when he saw the puzzled look on his friend's face, whose shirt was splattered with milk. Daphne beside him giggled.

Y/N pulled the damp letter out of his cereal bowl and was surprised to find that it had the coat of arms of the Magical Congress of the United States of America on it. With eager anticipation, he pulled the letter out of the envelope and unfolded it. The seal on the envelope worried him. None of his previous contacts had been under happy circumstances.

Dear Mr L/N,

I am sorry to inform you that we have to stop the investigation of your parents' death for the time being. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any promising tracks in the past year.
