[Past]
I awoken with screams of terror coming from the outside, I was puzzled, having just woken up. I thought children had been playing outside like the usual. My heart beat erratically. I stood and made my way to the window and was met with the sight of fire, dozens of bodies laid on the floor with one on top of one another. Stepping away with my heart beating out of my chest, sounds of wood creaking and heavy footsteps had been caught to my attention. I see a shadow walking nearer and nearer to my bedroom door.
I became frightened, knowing it wasn't my father or brother that had made those heavy footsteps. I sprinted towards the door before the intruder managed to open it. I quickly locked it, making the unknown person pound on the door.
I whimper scarcely, looking around, trying to find somewhere to hide. The fidgeting of the door handle had stopped, making me halt my actions. I took that as an advantage to hide. Then the pounding turned more forceful as I began to hear the wood breaking in the door, like it was ready to give out at any moment.
I found a space in my closet, closing it quietly. Trying to steady my breathing. I hear the door break off its hinges, hearing the footsteps set foot inside my bedroom. I sink closer into the edge of my closet praying the intruder won't find me.
I looked through the small crack and saw that the person turned out to be a man. Tears clouded my vision, placing my hands over my mouth to prevent any noise. The unidentified man began sniffing the air, my eyes widened, and my eyebrows furrowed. He turned around. And I was met with a horrifying sight, this man was splattered in blood from head to toe.
His eyes connected with my own... He started angling his head in my direction and sniffed again. Walking closer and closer. Shifting my weight as I prepared to attack, when the man had gotten close enough, I pushed the door open as hard as I could, making him fall over.
I sprinted out and began to make a full speed run.
What I heard behind me made me more than terrified. The sound of growling.
When I set foot on the top of the stairs I felt him grab my ankles as I tumbled down and with each fall the sharp edges of wood dug into my side.I screamed when I had made impact on the wooded floor, feeling the air being knocked out of me. I gasped and wheezed then turned over onto my stomach as I began to crawl away, as I couldn't muster enough energy to stand back up.
I moaned and groaned, nearing the front door of my house, thinking I'm finally free of danger.
Hearing the sound of footsteps flood my ears, I couldn't react quickly enough before the man grabbed me and pinned me to the floor. Raking his hands up and wrapping it around my throat.
