"And exactly how long do we have to wait? It's been 20 minutes, and we haven't seen one of those filthy things." This is how it went ever since we stopped, non-stop bickering. Oh how desperately I wanted to rip their tongues out their mouths.
"If you don't shut your mouth, I'll gladly take this knife out and carve out your tongues and feed it to them so I don't have to hear one of you talk again?" I gave them a glare, one they knew all too well, and it kept them quiet.

"It takes patience, something you need to work on. Can't expect them to come out of hiding just like that, it'd be too easy for them." I averted my eyes in every direction, keeping my senses on high alert. These things are fast, and strong.

In the moment I noticed they both kept giving glances towards one another, Jimin was antsy.

"You know, you never told us your story Cecile, how you turned. I mean I'm sure you're way older than us two-" Taehyung pinched Jimin on his arm, which made him jolt.

"You don't just go asking people that! It may be a sensitive topic for them, be more sentimental, would you?" Then the arguing started, them going back and forth about who's the more mature one. How many people they've killed. It's ridiculous.

"Enough! Stop acting like children! None of you are mature enough. You're letting your guard down with this silly bullshit nonsense." They looked at each other in guilt, it was rare for them to see me raise my voice in that manner.

"We're sorry Cecile, we got a bit carried away. Please forgive us." I let out a hum, and it went silent. Sounds of motor vehicles, police sirens, anything you can name that usually happens in the dark night of the city.

One of them cleared their throat, I felt a presence stand next to me, as they leaned against the stone pillar. We stood in silence waiting for any sign of danger.

"I know you don't want to bring up this topic but... I don't think I ever got to thank you for saving me years ago. I remember how terrified I was when the changes were happening. I was alone for that majority of my life, being a homeless teenager at that time, I guess you can say it was bound to happen to me someday. Just didn't expect it to happen then and there."

It was a cold night again... No food, water, or shelter. Constantly begging for aid. No one bat an eye. Only wearing an old sweater and ripped up jeans, it'd never keep one warm enough to last the whole night. But I adapted to it. I'm surprised I had lasted this long with these conditions.
