Deduction (Death note L X Reader)

Chapter 3

He directs us to all sit down on a few couches, they were actually really comfortable, almost as if you could sink in them.

"Asuki, I want you to go over these tapes and tell us what your thoughts, take as long as you need."

I watch a man head onto a train with an envelope under his arm, but once he comes off, it's gone? He falls and struggles to breathe, and takes one final look into the train, and that is where he meets his death. It would have to be Kira.

"W-well, this has to be caused by K-Kira," I take a deep breathe, "And with saying that, notice how there's an envelope before he enters the train, but it's gone after he leaves? I also believe that.." I use the remote to get to the point of the clip I want, "...whoever he was looking at in that train, was Kira."

The taskforce, except L, gasps.

"Yes, I came to that same conclusion too, but why would Kira be on that train, what would the point be?"

"Well, if you notice...here, that there's something in his ear, maybe Kira was communicating with him?" 

Even L looks stunned now, watching closely at the man's ear. 

"I... didn't notice that. Your deduction skills impress me." L gives a slight smile at me. "This will be valuable information to us, thank you."

I nod. A few minutes pass, and we all watch L put multiple sugar cubes in his cup.

"I believe we need to further investigate the people Raye Penber was investigating."

"Alright, who was he investigating?" Mr. Yagami asks.

L stares at him, "The Kitamura and Yagami families." 

The room grows silent, but the Chief is astounded.

"I'd like to place cameras and wiretaps in both households."

"What?" The Chief exclaims.

"You can't do that! Chief, think about your family!"

"I'm very aware of my family! I can't tell you how offended I am that my family is under suspicion, but you may, and make sure there's no blind spots!" He shrieks.

"Ryuzaki, how much do you think that Kira is in one of these two households?" 

"I'd say, 10 percent, no actually, it's closer to 5 percent."

Matsuda was about to say something, but then nods. 

"As for privacy reasons, only Mr. Yagami and myself will be keeping surveillance. And, if it's okay with you Mr. Yagami, Asuki will be assisting us as well."

I'm taken back by this, but I accept.

"M-me?! I mean, yes of course."
