Part 15: We Always find a way back

Today was the day! I had been waiting for this day for a while now and it was finally here! I get to wear my sparkling dress and feel like a queen! Levi is going to pick me up around 7:00 pm in his brand new, shiny black Lincoln and take me to the dance where all the girls will be jealous but we wouldn't care! I hope Jax has fun with Sage too. I just hope Sage don't break Jax's heart like she did mine, it still makes me mad till this day.
Since we didn't have school today I spent the whole day getting ready, I wondered if Levi was as excited as I was?
No one had really talked to me the entire day so I guess they were busy getting ready also.
Before I could get my dress on I sat on my roof and looked up at the sky for a while, I thought about what had all happened this year and how I ended up making some good friends. I lost some relationships like Sage but maybe she's right, maybe me and her should move on, I don't really want to. Thinking about all those memories of us just makes me want to cry. But I can't today! Today is a happy day! There was a fresh cool breeze that blew through the trees, and the sun was just barely peeking through the clouds. "Looks like it might rain today," I told myself as I jumped back inside, "that's just great!"
It reached 5:00 when i got a call from Jax, "Hey what's up?"
"Nothing I was just wondering if you were still coming?" Jax sounded like he was in a rush, he was probably just getting ready it's like him to do everything at the last minute.
"Is Sage still coming with you?" I fiddled with the makeup on my counter.
"Yeah, but I don't think she's really excited."
"That's too bad haha!" I kinda grinned, I don't know why it still feels so weird talking to Jax this much through the phone, I mean, shouldn't he be calling Sage right now instead of me?
Suddenly I heard a knock on my door, "gotta go Jax! See you at the party!"
It was my mom, "Hey hun Levi's here!" Her face was lit up like a light.
"Isn't he a little early?" He was supposed to pick me up at seven not five.
"He said he wanted to see you ASAP!" She laughed and ran back down stairs.
I walked downstairs as slowly and dramatic as possible, o wanted this to be a magical and memorable experience. I had never been invited to any dance so this had to be at least almost perfect for me. Levi was standing beside the door looking like he's done this 100 times already. As soon as he turned towards me his eyes widened, "Wow! Ivory you look-
He never finished his sentence, mom and dad were leaning on one another about to cry.
"Ok let's leave before mom and dad start to cry!" I impatiently started pushing Levi out the door.
The Lincoln had black leather seats and smelt like an expensive fancy cologne. While we were driving he put his hand on my thigh again, I didn't want to ruin his night or make it awkward so I dealt with it until we got there. I expected him to open the door for me once we got there, he did not. Or hold my hand? He did not do that either. "I hope it gets better" I thought to myself. He hadn't really complimented me all he said was "wow" and I didn't know if that was a compliment or an insult. I sure liked the way Levi looked, his blonde, silky hair was slicked back and he wore a dark blue suit with a flower and a handkerchief in his left pocket. His shoes were as black and shiny as his new car. I was honestly speechless of how classy and expensive he looked, it felt like we were going to a cotillion instead of a school dance. All the guys looked dirt poor compared to him. When we walked in Levi suddenly switched moods, he carefully grabbed my hand and led me to the dance floor, "will you dance with me?" His smooth, deep voice made me shiver, "of course!" I spun in a circle and landed in his arms. The slow music started playing when Sage and Jax walked in, they looked around for a second and finally spotted us. Me and Jax stared at each other, why was I feeling guilty? I smiled at him, he gave me a sad smile back. When Levi swung me around he saw Sage with Jax, "Excuse me."
"Where are you going?" I walked with him.
"I need a drink sorry! You want one?"
"Um yeah sure!?" He left me in the middle of the dance floor, I waited, and waited, I looked around the hot and crowded room. Everyone was with their partners except me. The smell of cologne and perfume was suffocating, I felt sick. I roamed around the dark room, trying to find Levi but I couldn't find him. Suddenly I found myself in the middle of the dance floor again, Sonny was standing on stage, "um excuse me everyone! Hey! Do I have everybody's attention?!" The room became quiet. "Did all of you guys know this is someone's first time they've been invited or even been to a dance?" Suddenly a big light shined on me, "let's congratulate Ivory! Shall we? Oh Ivory! I thought you would be with your partner Levi! Ooh looks like he's not here! You must be worried and be lookin for him but I think that's a waste of time, I saw him walk out of here with a little someone, you might know her, the one that abandoned you earlier this year!" I looked around, I saw Sage and Levi entering at the same time. I could feel my body tingling and turn cold, everyone was staring at me, "oh and did I forget to mention oh wait now that Sage is here I think you should tell her!" Sonny gave me an evil grin, "well if you don't want to tell her...I guess I will! Sage told me everything! Her and Levi left you and Jax behind while you were riding bikes but did they tell you that when they left they spent the whole rest of the evening together, and...kissed." Sonny gave me a fake frown and started cracking up. The tears filled my eyes as I ran out of the building, pushing the crowd of people out of my way, Jax, Levi and Sage all ran after me.
I stopped to catch my breath, "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! IM WALKING HOME!"
Sage grabbed my arm, "I need to talk to you!" I shook it off, "well I don't! I think I've heard enough I want to hear!"
"YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IVORY! THIS WHOLE TIME IVE NEVER WANTED TO ADMIT IT BUT I ENVY YOU! YOU HAVE/HAD EVERYTHING! you and you're life is perfect!! And I hated you for it!"
I could feel myself burning up, "And so you decided you were going to wreck it didn't you! You have the freaking audacity to call my life perfect when you didn't even care to know my life all this time! You were always to busy talking about yourself you selfish- UGH! YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HALF OF WHAT IVE BEEN THROUGH! EVERYTHING HAS TO BE YOU! YOU YOU YOU! BUT WHAT ABOUT ME!?"
Levi stood beside Sage, "calm down ivory!"
"OH AND YOU! YOU BASTARD! YOU LEAD ME ON AND ENJOYED EVERY BIT OF IT! IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE ME BACK YOU COULD'VE JUST SAID SO!" I ran my fingers through my hair, balling, "IM ALWAYS SECOND PLACE ARENT I! IM NEVER FIRST! IVORY! THE GIRL WHOS ALWAYS NEXT IN LINE! IVORY! THE GIRL WHOS ALWAYS BEEN SECOND PLACE!" I dropped my arms and walked off, "you can have each other! You guys would make a perfect, toxic couple, you belong together!"
I could hear Jax telling them off in the distance then suddenly I heard a scream, Jax punched Levi in the face, "I've been wanting to do that for a while now!" He flipped them off and walked off with me.
We were half way home, mascara running down my face and my dress was all wet and muddy from the rain, "ok Jax I want to be alone,"
"You sure?" Jax had blood all over his hand from how hard he punched Levi.
"Your hand! Come home with me I'll clean it up for you I guess." The truth was that was an excuse to bring him home with me, I didn't actually want to be alone.
We snuck in my room, I cleaned the blood off from his hand, "thank you for standing up for me...and punching Levi in the face."
"Well he deserved it!" Jax looked up at me with compassion in his eyes, "oh I have to show you something! Let's go on the roof!"
"Um ok!" He drug me outside and plugged his EarPods into this old portable CD player.
"I made this for you because I know you like this kind of music!" He put the ear pod in my ear, he seemed so excited about it too. The music was really cool, he didn't sing, it was just instruments, but I still liked it.
After we listened to it for a while I took the ear pod back out of my ear, "Oh my gosh! I loved it you're so talented Jax! Thank you!"
"Ivory..." he looked me straight in the eyes, "None of those people back there deserve you, and I don't either. I'm sorry for the way I treated you all this time."
I was speechless, I didn't know what to say, finally something came out of my mouth,
"Jax...thank you, I held his hand. The moon was bright and beautiful, peeking through the soft clouds, suddenly a feeling of relief and happiness came over me. I felt better now.
"You were always first place in my eyes Ive." He wiped the tears off my face and brushed his hand against my cheek.
I didn't know what else to say suddenly, without thinking I kissed him. This was what I had been waiting to do forever ever since I was little, no Jax wasn't the most perfect, rich clean boy but he was Jax! The Jax that I fell in love with long ago. Sage and Levi are in the past now. He was my Jax and as far as I know of, i think we will be like this for a long time, just him and I, and no matter how much we fight and break up we always seem to find a way back to each other.
