Hiraeth the lost city

Part 5

Suddenly I realised how late it was and went to bed. While I was almost asleep it popped into my head and I ran out of bed to look at photos.

My mum kept 12 photo albums I looked in number eight but unfortunately that was a dead end.

"8 candles, what does it mean" I whispered to myself.

I kept looking though the album's just for fun, I pulled some of the photos out of their plastic rappers. Looking at these old pictures of my happy family made me feel so alone. I curled up at the foot of my bed and hold these photos in my hand and started to cry.

I was so unbelievably mad at my sisters for not even bothering to contact me after I tried to find them. Did they even know mum was dead?
Did they care?

I abruptly woke up to the sound of Busy morning traffic. Happy 16th birthday to me I guess. I pulled myself off the floor and got ready for school.

My principal was an awful person he didn't care if your whole family had just been murdered if your attendance was down your attendance was down, he I didn't matter what the circumstance were.

I walked up to my locker to check my time table and get the books I needed.

"FALLON" screamed someone in the crowds of moving hallway traffic.

Suddenly I spotted Lottie's brown curly hair and loud politeness of excuse me's. She ran right up to my locker.

"Happy 16th babe."

"Thanks Lottie" I said in a full tone

I could physically see she was more excited for my birthday then I was. But that all faded quite quickly. We just awkwardly stood there looking at each other.

"Wait before I forget I got you a birthday present, it's not much."

She pulled out a small blue papered package out of her backpack and handed it over to me."

I ripped off the blue paper to expose a second hand book titled places to adventure across the galaxy.

"Thanks Lottie"

She gave me a hug and we walked to first period history.

"Morning ladies" said Mr G as we walked into class.

"Happy birthday Fallon, sorry about your mu-"

"It's fine"

I sat between Lottie and her crush, Max near the back of the class.

He's sweet I guess, kinda a dick tho.

"To Continue our topic on destroyed planets, we are going to learn about Hiraeth." Announce Mr G of the quite murmuring.

The class was shortly very attentive.

"Hiraeth, was once known as the god planet. Their Technology was highly advanced and The people living there were some of the smartest in the whole universe."

"So what happened you might be asking yourself? How did an entire planet and all of its inhabitants just disappear? That is one of the many mysteries of our universe."

One of the girls in the front row put up her hand.

"Sir what do you think happened to Hiraeth?"

"Well I don't think people should be asking how Hiraeth disappeared without a trace but why."

"Anyways moving onto Peaha a small planet in ....."

My focus was dropped I spent the rest of the class thinking about the box. I still had no clue what it meant.
