3rd Person POV, Selo
Selo watched the battles take place. Kaminari getting beat by a girl with vines, Bakugo beating Uraraka, Todoroki beating Sero, it all quickly became routine to her. If she was to be completely honest, it seemed unethical to have two students fight each other with no bounds. It reminded her of the barracks. When soldiers were put against soldiers in an arena  where they fought with no boundaries. Selo wasn't sure if she felt sick inside because of something she ate or because of these memories. She blamed it on the food.

"So..." Kirishima sat next to Selo, trying to strike up some conversation. "Are you excited for your next match?" Selo stayed silent. They knew they'd go up against Tokoyami next, since Dark Shadow's offensive power greatly outweighs Yaoyarozu's.

"No." Selo crossed their arms and turned their focus to the fight between Tokoyami and Yaoyarozu. They were probably going to lose the next match, if they had to be honest. The only weapons they had were suited for long ranged combat, and their ink only had offensive properties. They made a mental note to as the one with the glue related quirk for help later. And so the battle between Tokoyami and Yaoyarozu ended, Tokoyami winning as Selo predicted. Selo heard Present Mic's voice over the loud speaker.

"HEYYYYYYY EVERYOOOOOOONE!! SLIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS YO! TAKE A LOOK AT THE ROCKIN' BRACKETS IN THE ARENA!!" Selo looked to the center as their eyes widened slightly. Tokoyami against Shiozaki. Midoriya against Todoroki. Iida against Kirishima, and Selo against Bakugo. What caused this sudden change? Was it because multiple of the students were calm and calculated and have already formed a plan? Maybe they wanted to see what everyone can do on the fly. "THE SEMI-FINALS WILL BEGIN SHORTLY WITH KATSUKI BAKUGO AND TAKO!!" The crowd cheered. Selo looked at Bakugo, who stared back menacingly. No way they could win against that. What would they do to avoid serious injury?

Selo yawned as they sat in the prep room. They had a plan in mind. It wasn't the best, but it would work. They remembered their training from the army. They remembered the commanders words as they walked out to the arena.

If you are aware of your opponents capabilities...

"HERE WE GO EVERYONE!! THE FIRST ROUND OF THE SEMI-FINALS BETWEEN BAKUGO AND TAKO!!"

And you know they are stronger than you...

"I want a clean fight." Midnight said, Bakugo's palms already filling with sweat and sparks.

You can only do one thing...

"READY?" Both of the teens shifted their positions.

Surrender.

"BEGIN!!" Midnight called out right before Selo motioned her to start.

"I concede." Selo put her arms into the air like she was going to be apprehended. The arena was in shock. The octoling girl who trained in the army for several years, had amazing combat capabilities, and could take down Aoyama (actually that wasn't very impressive) was forfeiting?

"WHAT THE HELL!? ARE YOU CALLING ME WEAK!? AM I NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!??"

"Calm yourself Bakugo." Nilotic jumped down from the stands and next to Selo. "Care to explain your reasoning Tako?" Selo took in a breath.

"Bakugo is a strong and talented comrade, and I respect that. I wish I could help him show off his strength, however I simply can not. To add on to that, Bakugo's quirk could severely injure me. Especially if he doesn't hold back. Knowing Bakugo he would give his all, which I commend, but I could not take his all. Thus, I forfeit." Selo bowed and walked towards the exit gate as Nilotic repeated what Selo said in Japanese.

"To put it simply, Tako thinks she's too weak to fight Bakugo." Everyone was dumbfounded.

"WHAT A TURN OF EVENTS!!" Present Mic's voice boomed over the loud speaker. Selo smiled a bit to herself before returning to her poker face. She was only going to go down in the beginning of a fight. She had to keep her honor. For her home.

"Tako what were you thinking!? You didn't even put up a fight!!" Denki was nagging at Selo ever since she sat down in the stands.

"Katsu is formidable opponent. Would not stand a chance." Selo leaned back in their seat, watching the battle below between Kirishima and Iida unfold.

3rd Person POV, Bakugo

Selo's forfeit angered Bakugo to some unreasonable degree. He was the best in the stadium, the best in the school. He knew Selo recognized that. Selo recognized his power, his potential. Why didn't Selo give him a chance to show the rest of the world his quirk? His capabilities? Was it some form of reverse sabotage he failed to recognize? Or was Selo weaker than he knew? Sparks flew from his hands in frustration, begging to be let loose. He let the light of the sun embrace his face as he entered the stands. Sitting a ways away from Selo and the rest of the class, he could still hear their words.

"Tako what were you thinking!? You didn't even put up a fight!!"

"Katsu is formidable opponent. Would not stand a chance." He watched Selo, her eyes trained on the battle below. He scoffed.

"But you could've at least tried! You wiped the floor with Aoyama, you could've done SOMETHING against Bakugo!" Selo turned to the electric blond, glaring.

"If I were try, I would get injured. Would not be able to continue. It would be disgrace." Selo glanced at Bakugo, who inherently averted his gaze. Selo's strategic mind wasn't something everyone admired, but her tactics were something Bakugo wanted to learn. They were odd, unpredictable.

Just like her arrival.

3rd Person POV, Selo

Selo watched the battle end, Kirishima getting pushed out of the arena. What a shame, Selo thought to themselves as they looked to the two boys exiting the field. What a shame I was matched up against Bakugo. I could've won against one of those two. Selo's mind took note of their strategies, their quirks. They're all so reliant on a power given to them. It's not like they can keep that forever. It'll wear out, like a weak blade.

Fun facts:
Practically everyone was confused as to why Selo forfeited, everyone but Todoroki.

Selo doesn't see the use in quirks.

Hatsume thinks Selo would've been better joining the Support Course instead of the Hero Course.
