"It's safe now, Sultanim" Nasuh Effendi said bowing in front of me. I nodded and shook Mustafa awake from his nap, the poor boy must be exhausted. I helped him stand up and nodded at Gulfem to take care of Hatice.
"Come on darling," I walked Mustafa out of the cellar and up the stairs to my room feeling it must be necessary for all of us to still be in the same room.
"Bring food for the Sultan's sons" I ordered the maids who ran out of the room hurriedly. I walked Mustafa to one of the couches and sat down beside him kissing his forehead.
"Don't worry darling, we will be going to Mahidevran soon, we just need to make sure aunt Hatice is okay" Mustafa nodded and leaned his head on my chest as Hurrem walked in with Mehmed. Mehmed ran over to me and hugged me tightly making me smile and kiss his forehead and nodded for Hurrem to sit beside me on the couch.
"Take the children to the room across from this, they shouldn't be here while Hatice is being examined" Hurrem bowed and left the room with the two boys just as Nasuh walked in with Hatice in his arms, he placed her down before bowing to me.
"Girls show Nasuh Effendi a room to place Leo in and call a doctor for him" Rana bowed and ushered Nasuh out of the room. A doctor ran in and immediately started looking over Hatice, she sadly lost her child but at least she is alive and healthy and will be able to produce another one soon when she recovers.
"Neslihan-Hûmasah" I turned around to see Suleiman standing at the doorway. I sighed in relief letting a tear roll down my cheek as I jumped up and pulled him in for a hug. His arms wrapped tightly around my form, one around my waist and the other threaded into my hair trying to calm me as more tears rolled down my cheeks.
"I was so scared, they were right outside. Look what happened because of them" I said pulling away from him and pointed at Hatice who was now awake and barely keeping it together. Suleiman kissed my forehead.
"I will make them all pay" Suleiman promised. He was about to walk over to Hatice but stopped when I leaned more weight on him. I felt hot but cold at the same time, everything was spinning around me.
"I don't feel good, Suleiman" I mumbled falling down on my knees. Suleiman seemed panicked as he kneeled down beside me and held my head up just as my vision turned dark.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Mary asked me as we sat in a carriage. I sighed and looked at her with a soft smile on my face.
"I am fine, Hatice is more important now" I answered turning back to look out of the window as we neared the throne's palace.
"I don't want anyone to know I'm pregnant, especially Hatice, do you understand?" I looked between the two girls sitting in front of me. They looked at each other then back at me and nodded their heads.
"Good" I smiled and turned to the doors as it was pulled open and a harem agha offered me his hand. I took it and stepped down the carriage and watched as Mustafa was reunited with his mother and Hatice being escorted into the castle by Daye Hatun.
"My darling" Mother walked over and placed her hands on my face before pulling me in for a hug. I chuckled and patted her back, I may not be on the best of terms with my mother but she was still my mother after all.
"I am fine, mother" I pulled away from her. She pushed some of my hair back and smile softly at me.
"Come on" She wrapped her arm around my waist and pushed me towards the palace. She took me to her room in the harem that was a mess and girls were cleaning it left and right.
"You will be staying here until Ibrahim returns from Eygpt" Valide said pushing me to sit down on the couch in her room.
"They told you already, huh?" I asked raising my eyebrow. Mother chuckled a little and nodded her head.
"I don't want Hatice to hear about this, not now at least," I said looking at my mother with a stern look on my face.
"Do not worry, she will not know until she recovers" Mother reassured patting my hands. Daye Hatun walked in and bowed but she didn't utter a word which meant she wanted to talk with my mother about something private.
"Valide, I have a maid that I wish to gift to my brother, and considering you are in charge of his harem I am asking for your permission to send her tonight," I said turning to face. Mother's face lit up in a wide grin.
"Of course," Mother said nodding at Daye who bowed her head with a hint of a smile on her face. Does this woman ever smile?
"Excuse me then, I need to rest" I stood up and bowed to mother before leaving her room. The girls in the harem stopped what they were doing and bowed to me as I passed by but I gave them none of my attention. I went to my old room that was now cleaned and prepared for me.
"Rana, take Mary to the bath, she's being sent tonight" I ordered Rana who was fixing my jewelry box. Mary's face lit up and a smile adorned her blushing face.
"No one will know, especially Hurrem until she is inside the room, I don't want any interruptions" The two girls bowed before leaving me alone in my room. I took a headscarf and walked out of the harem and to the men's section of the palace. I walked into Ibrahim's room that was now obviously empty.
I walked over to his old bed and sat down on it feeling quite sad for making him sad, maybe I shouldn't have told him about Numan, but he's my husband and I didn't want to have any secrets from him like he doesn't have any from me.
