"Which crown, sultanim?" Mary asked showing me a couple of crowns sitting on pillows being held by other maids.
"That one" I pointed to the one I wanted. She picked it up and placed it on my head securing it on my head.
"Leave me alone" I ordered. They all bowed and left the room. I got up from in front of my mirror and walked over to the window. I sat down on the couch in front of it.
I looked out through the thin curtain and watched as people piled into the castle for the engagement. Many pashas wives and sisters we talking cheerily like they were having the time of their lives.
"Sultana it's time for you to join the women in the Valide's room," Rana said knocking on the door.
I got up from the couch and walked over to the door, I knocked twice and maids opened the door for me. I stepped outside after taking a deep breath and started walking down the harem.
The girls jumped up from their places and formed two lines one on either side of the road and bowed down with their head down low.
I pulled up my dress and walked up the steps keeping my head held high. I walked down the balcony stopping in front of the door and turned to look at the harem from up here, all of the women were still bowing to me not daring to look up.
I nodded my head at the maid that stood beside the door. She bowed before opening the door and stepping inside.
"MAKE WAY, NESLIHAN HÜMASAH SULTAN HAS ARRIVED," She said loudly making everyone jump up and bow except my mother and sisters. I walked into the room and up the steps and straight over to my mother. I took her hand into mine and kissed the back of it before stepping to her side and sitting down on her right with Hatice on my right and Beyhan was sat on our mother's left.
"Congratulations, sultanim," Mahidevran said from my eighth where she sat on a pillow with Mustafa on her lap.
"Thank you, Mahidevran" I nodded my head and turned to the girls that were dancing a couple of feet in front of me.
"How are you feeling?" Hatice asked quietly taking my hand into hers. She knew I wasn't really okay with what was happening right now.
"Like I could murder someone" I answered back not taking my eyes off of the party.
"You should think more about this, this is good for you and your future," she said patting my hand. I nodded without looking at her and pulled my hand out of hers.
"MAKE WAY, SULTAN SULEIMAN KHAN HAS ARRIVED" We all got up and bowed as my brother walked in with a couple of harem aghas.
"Validam" he took our mother's hand and kissed the back of it before turning to me.
"My beautiful sister, Neslihan," he said placing his hands on my shoulders making me tense up a little since I was still mad at him and haven't forgiven him just yet. He seemed to notice and pulled away and placed them by his side.
"I hope this marriage will be blessed by Allah," he said turning to one of the aghas who held a pillow with a necklace on it. My brother took it from the pillow and placed it around my neck.
"Thank you, your majesty" I took his hand in mine and kissed the back of it.
He left with his aghas so we could continue the party. I sat down on the couch and watched as the girls started dancing again and the women sat back down on their pillows.
"Mother if you'll excuse me I'm not feeling well and wish to return to my chambers," I said turning to look at my mother who gave me her full attention.
"I know you didn't agree to this marriage but you don't have to show it to everyone," she said sternly turning to the woman on her left that was talking.
"An no you may not leave" she finished. I looked down at my hands feeling like I could strangle someone.
I leaned against my mother feeling dizzy maybe from the anger. She turned to look at me as I lost consciousness as she screamed in fear.
Third POV-
A harem agha ran over and picked up the unconscious sultana as another ran out to inform the sultan.
He placed her down on her bed as doctors ran over and started to look at the sultan to find the source of her sickness and reason.
"What is wrong with my daughter?" The valide asked the doctors as they ran around. One of them was making Neslihan breathe something on a stick which was helping her wake up.
"Nothing to worry about it Sultanim, she's just tired and sleep-deprived" the doctor answered as Neslihan woke up and sat up with the help of her two trusted maids.
"Neslihan, darling you should rest more" her mother scolded sitting down beside her on the bed and patted back some of her hair that was staying to stick out from its place because of the chaos that happened earlier.
The doors opened again and Suleiman ran in with a worried look on his face. He sat on her other side and took her hand into his.
"How are you feeling now, Neslihan?" He asked worriedly.
"I'm fine, your majesty" she answered nodding her head a little wrong to reassure him. He kissed the back of her hand in relief.
"We should let her rest mother" he got up and helped his mother up from the bed. They stopped Neslihan from getting and bowing before they both left the room.
Rana and Mary helped Neslihan change into her sleeping wear before she went to bed. She cried herself to sleep hating how she couldn't say no or have a say in what she was being forced to do.
