I felt fear creep into my being as the carriage stopped in the middle of the road, we were still halfway home meaning something or someone was in the way. Ibrahim handed me Kasim before getting up to see what was stopping us from moving but I held his arm before he could push the curtain aside and step down, he looked at me confused and waited for me to speak.
"Be careful" I whispered. He nodded before stepping down. Silence filled the air making me even more worried and hugged Kasim closer to me, my angel.
"You traitor!" I heard Ibrahim yell before the clashing of swords filled the air. I felt the air leave my lungs as the curtain was pulled open and Numan's wife glared at me with a new scar on her face probably from the rebellion.
"Put him down and come out" she ordered holding out a knife in front of her. I gulped and placed Kasim down on the seat as I got up. I walked down the steps and in seconds the knife was pointed at my neck. Ibrahim and Numan were too distracted dueling to notice.
"Boys," she said seductively before whistling which earned their attention from the fight.
"What are you doing? She's our only way to wealth" Numan hissed angrily as his and Ibrahim's swords slowly fell apart and they stepped away from each other holding tightly onto their swords.
"She is still in your heart and I told you if anyone was in there other than me then they will meet their demise on my hands," she said back. I could feel her smirk against my hair making me shiver.
"I can you now and take that beautiful crown on your head" she whispered in my ear. I gasped as the knife made a small cut against my neck and one drop of blood trickled down my neck.
"You will be beheaded before you can wear it" I whispered back. She tightened her hold on the back of my head making me Yelp.
"Let her go and I will spare your life" Ibrahim all but begged stepping closer to us. She pulled me back with her as she stepped back recreating the same space between us as before.
"Spare my life? Who are you to spare my life? A mere pasha" she said popping the p a little too hard I'm shocked her teeth didn't come out of her mouth from the force. She gasped suddenly and her grip on me loosened before it was fully removed.
I turned around to find her laying on the ground in a growing pool of her own blood. I looked up to find my brother standing with some of his guards behind him and he was glaring down on the corpse of the woman who was threatening me.
"Oh no," I turned back around and watched as Numan took off running not even feeling a little sad over the death of his wife.
"Get me that fool" my brother ordered and over twenty guards ran after Numan.
"Are you alright?" Ibrahim asked running over to me and placed his hands on my face, his sword was thrown to the floor in the process.
"I'm alright" I reassured before pushing him off and hurried back into the carriage to find Kasim where I had left him. I sighed in relief as picked him back up and kissed his forehead.
"I was worried my darling" I whispered against his ear swaying him side to side. The curtain opened again and my brother popped his head inside of the carriage.
"Is he alright?" Suleiman asked nodding to the bundle in my arms.
"Yes, thank Allah" I answered smiling at him. He smile back before pulling away and Ibrahim got back into the carriage.
I sighed leaning back against the carriage wall as it moved again to take us back home. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that a cowered man like Numan was able to do such a thing and I hoped fully hearted that the guard would catch him because I couldn't wait to see his demise at the hands of executioners.
When we got to our castle Ibrahim helped me to our room before leaving to meet with my brother in the main room so they can decide some important things about the rebellion and I didn't even want to know any of it.
"Shhh" I whispered as I placed a fuzzy Kasim in his swaying crib. I walked over to my bed and sat down trying to process the horrors I went through only today and the day was still not over. A knock on the doors interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in" I called turning to face the maid that walked in with a tray in her hands. I smiled softly at her as she bowed to me head down.
"Ibrahim pasha ordered for us to prepare you food, sultanim" she informed placing the tray down at the edge of the bed.
"Thank you, tell them to prepare the bath for me" I ordered pulling the tray closer to me only know realizing how hungry I was. She bowed and left me alone to Kasim and my thoughts again.
I wolfed down the food as if I haven't eaten in days before leaving for the bathroom, of course not before making sure that Rana was back from the throne's castle to stay with Kasim.
I sighed in content as one of the maids rubbed my shoulders with soap before she washed it away with water. I closed my eyes enjoying the way her hands felt on my aching head massaging my scalp.
"Are you okay sultanim?" She asked worriedly as I leaned against the wall beside me.
"Yes, just tired" I answered as she washed the last bit of soap off my body. I changed into a sleeping gown and let her dry my hair with a towel before I returned to my room.
Rana had already taken Kasim to his room and Ibrahim was laying in bed or more like sitting up reading a book but when he saw me his book was long forgotten on the nightstand and he opened his arms for me. I got under the covers and laid down on Ibrahim's chest after he had slid down to lay under me. I held him tightly feeling safe again in his arms and sleep soon came to me.
