Alekai's POV

"Bury a friend is better than everything I wanted." Jamie said and I raised my eyebrow at her.

We had been arguing about which Billie Eilish song was better.

We both liked her a lot, another thing we had in common.

Kaylee preferred Camilla Cabello and Ariana Grande.

She said Billie was too depressed.

I knew how many times we'd almost fought because of what she said.

The thought made a small smile play on my lips.

"What's making you smile?" Jamie asked and I shrugged.

She looked at me suspiciously then Annie came over to her.

"Jamie!" Annie hugged her and then gave me a small smile.

I nodded in response as they chattered excitedly.

Maybe I should leave.

I left them behind and walked to my locker.

I turned and saw Chelsea coming over to me with Tyrell.

Was that dude dating the two of them?

"Hey Kai." She said and I looked at her.

Her eyes where bloody red.

"Are you okay Chelsea?" I had to ask.

She shook her head smiling sadly.

"I can never be okay again. Its about Kaylee. "

My breathe hitched.

Was she okay?

What happened to her?

"Is she okay? What happened to her?"

"She woke up."

I felt myself start breathing again.

She wasn't dead.

"The doctor said something bad is going to happen to her in a month's time."

I paled again but tried to steady myself.

"What's wrong? What did the doctor say?"

Chelsea's eyes began to water again.

"She's leaving Alekai.  In a month at most. She's going to leave us."

"What do you mean?" I asked, my hand holding her shoulder in a hard grip.

"She's dying. She isn't going to stay with us forever."

Then she cocked her head to the side.

"But you don't care do you? She'll finally stop disturbing you with her existence.  You'll be glad to finally never see her again. Won't you?"

No.

I can't.

I can't never see her again.

I didn't think.

Everything froze to me at that moment.

The only thing I wanted was to see her.

I had to.

Damn the consequences.

Not letting Chelsea finish what she was saying, I ran straight to the parking lot.

To my car.

Jumping in, I drove out with full force.

The security came out to ask for my ticket but I blew right past him.
