taegyu.

it was lunchtime and while everyone scrambled to the canteen to get food, yeonjun stayed behind in the classroom. he didn't want to eat. there was no point eating when he was just going to throw it all up.

he looked outside his window, where he could see the school's sports ground. students were allowed to play during lunchtime so the lower graders would just gobble down their lunch and go to play.

yeonjun sighed and rested his chin on his hand, still looking outside the window.

it must feel nice, to be carefree. to not have a single care in the world. to be perfect.

yeonjun was just about to close his eyes in an attempt to sleep, when a felt someone stand next to him.

actually it felt like two people.

yeonjun looked up and saw two people and he immediately recognized them.

Choi Beomgyu and Kang Taehyun.

yeonjun groaned at the sight of them. he never talked to them before and he had no idea what they wanted with him.

"you know, if it's your intention to blend in, staying back in the classroom while everyone is at the canteen isn't really the best of things to do."

yeonjun immediately raised his head up. what beomgyu said was true. shit, he had to go to the canteen now.

"but it's already 20 minutes into lunch so if you walk in alone, you will gather a lot of attention." said taehyun, casually looking into his nails.

yeonjun groaned. what were these people up to?

"what do you want?" said yeonjun.

"be friends with us."

"no" said yeonjun. he wanted nothing to do with them. he didn't need friends.

"well, having no friends makes you stand out you know? that's how we noticed you."

"well, i don't think being friends you guys helps. one, if i become friends with you THE whole school will notice me because you both are dating, two, i have no intentions of being a third wheel."

beomgyu gasped. "you know we're dating?"
yeonjun rolled his eyes. "the whole school knows."

"...and you don't feel weirded out by it?"

"nope. but i don't want friends so no thank you."

beomgyu and taehyun exchanged glances which poor yeonjun never noticed.

soobin had made plenty of friends, but he wasn't really comfortable. he looked over and saw kai sitting alone at the table.

soobin wanted to go and sit with him but he had heard how people had reacted when he came into the class saying goodbye to kai.
he just didn't want to be left out.

i'm sorry kai

"so, soobin? why'd you move school?" a girl sitting on his left asked.

soobin smiled and said, "my dad had changed jobs so this school is closer to my house."

"oh wow"

"yo soobin" said hyunjin, who was sitting right opposite to him.

"yes?"

"let's go to the arcade later."

"arcade? sure" soobin said. he told his mom that he would be late since it was first day of school for him so he didn't need to bother calling them.

"huh? who's that guy with the gays?" said someone sitting on the same table as him.

soobin looked to see where that guy was looking. three people had walked into the canteen. one had brown hair, one had red and one of them had black hair. soobin didn't recongize the brown and red haired one but recognized the black hair one. he was in his class.

he didn't really know the name of the black haired guy but something about that guy made

soobin curious about who he was.

"isn't that yeonjun?"

"no way. wait, it really is? anyone could recognize that mask."

so, his name was yeonjun.

"umm" said soobin "who are the other two?"

one of them snorted and said, "choi beomgyu and kang taehyun. they're dating."

soobin raised his eyebrows. they were openly dating...wow.

soobin watched as the three of them went and sat at the same table as huening kai.

"yeonjun joined the table for gays? does that mean he's gay too?"

"no, did you forget he dated a girl in his first year of high school? like they were THE couple."

"how would i know? i joined last year."

soobin just looked away. bisexual is thing you know.

but he didn't have the guts to say it out loud.

"peope.are.looking.at.me" whispered yeonjun at the couple who dragged him out here. he could feel all the eyes on him. he didn't like this one bit. he was much better off alone in the classroom.

"so what?" said beomgyu. "after some time, they'll all return back to normal and not care about you anymore. of course, you need to take the steps first."

they reached the table and yeonjun saw huening kai sitting alone over there.

"what the fuck, hyungs? how long did you take? i thought you guys were in some closet making out or something."

taehyun rolled his eyes and said, "you know very well we don't do PDA"

beomgyu and taehyun sat down but yeonjun was still standing up. how the hell did things turn out this way?

"wait, isn't this yeonjun hyung?" said kai.
"you know me?" said yeonjun, surprised. why would a junior know him?

"of course i do. you're really popular in our grade. you know, a lot girls like the mysterious kind."

yeonjun's heart dropped and he half heartily sat down on the bench, beside kai. all this effort....

"hyung, you know you shouldn't try hard to blend in? just be natural, be yourself and you'll find yourself not standing out. if you try too hard to blend in, that's when you stand out."
yeonjun looked at taehyun who had just spoken.

be himself.

yeonjun had long forgotten what that was like.
