The week leading up to Christmas was extremely enjoyable for Morrigan, she finally felt as if this were her real family, and she truly belonged. She and Jack went ice skating with their ice skates from Jupiter, (which were a previous Christmas present) lay with Hawthorn and Jack in the Smoking Parlour playing cards, which was reeking with Christmas scents, including ginger bread and candy canes, to name a few.

On Christmas Eve, Hawthorne arrived at the Hotel Deucalion around dusk, accessorised with a red bandanna that held his curly hair up at a weird angle, and a red knitted jumper, with a robot on it.

"You're a bit over the top, aren't you Mog?" Said Hawthorne sarcastically. Morrigan was wearing a black dress (naturally) and a red cardigan and the same red bow in her hair from the years previously. She thought she had done quite well, compared to Hawthorne.

"Where in the world did you get that bandanna?" Asked Morrigan.

"'Dunno, it was just in my closet". Morrigan laughed and grabbed Hawthorne's arm and directed him to Jack's room.

"Jack, are you ready? We have to leave in five minutes!" Morrigan said while knocking on his door.

"Hold your horses, I'm coming!" Jack opens the door and stepped out, wearing a green sweater and his ridiculous green hat.

"Bleh" complimented Morrigan.

"Oi! Don't be rude to my hat!" Jack snapped, making Morrigan laugh. Hawthorne stayed silent, which was very uncharacteristic, and looked between the pair laughing and smiling at each other , and he seemed to realise something, because his jaw dropped, leaving his mouth to form a comical 'O'.

"Hawthorne what's wrong?" Said Morrigan, noticing her best friends odd behaviour.

"Oh! Er... nothing. Let's go." And they all walked to the doors of the Hotel, where they met Jupiter, and started walking to the 'battle'. After they had watched what the Yule Queen and Saint Nicholas coincidently call a tie just like every other year, the crowd applauded and yelled in praise. Saint Nick indicated that they swap their items of clothing by giving his hat to the Yule Queen, making many in the crowd laugh in delight.

Morrigan handed her red cardigan to Hawthorne, who gave her a priceless look of delight and tied her hair-bow, once again, around Jupiter's wrist. Jack took off his sweater to reveal a plain grey shirt and handed it to Morrigan. She smiled at him and put it on. It was bright green and several sizes to big, but she didn't mind. Hawthorne and Jack exchanged Hawthornes jumper and the ridiculous green hat and bandana and they set off happily to buy some pickled sugarplums.

On the way home they pelted each other with snowballs, Jack accidentally sent one at Jupiter, knocking him off of his feet and making Morrigan laugh hysterically for two minutes straight. Jack piggy-backed Morrigan, sometimes gaining speed and making Morrigan scream in his ear to slow down, whilst Hawthorne was throwing snowballs at their backs with Jupiter's help, of course. Jack let Morrigan down outside the Deucalion and hugged her briefly, before the other two, who were lagging behind, could see.

"Thanks, Jack" said Morrigan, smiling up at Jack and extracting herself from his grasp.

"No problem Moggers" said Jack with a sly grin.

"If you call me that again I will get Fenestra to put fish in your bed!" Yelled Morrigan playfully punching him on the shoulder whilst Hawthorn and Jupiter had finally caught up and were slightly out of breath.

"What took you two so long?" Teased Morrigan

"Yeah" agreed Jack. "We've been here for hours" he said sarcastically. Hawthorn picked up a bundle of snow and punched into a snowball and threw it at Morrigan, causing her to fall back into Jack's arms and cause them to blush madly, and make Hawthorne and Jupiter laugh.

"Oh, there's Mum" said Hawthorne, pointing to an approaching figure in the distance. After Hawthorne returned Morrigan's cardigan and Jack's hat, and Jack returned Hawthorne's bandana, they waved goodbye to Hawthorn and his Mother. They both said goodnight to Jupiter and walked upstairs to Morrigan' room. Morrigan fell down backwards onto her bed, "That was the best Christmas Eve I've ever had in my life" she said dreamily.

"What did you used to do at your old house? For Christmas I mean." Asked Jack, lying down on the bed and propping himself up on a pillow, which was obviously feeling festive, because it had turned its covers red for the occasion. He put his legs on Morrigan's stomach and she laughed and lay down on the other pillow next to him.

"Oh" Said Morrigan, her mood instantly subsiding. "Well one Christmas Eve I asked my Father if I could have a special surprise the next day" her tone was becoming increasingly bitter with each word she spoke. "And he said yes, I was ecstatic, over the moon!" She laughed meanly. "And I woke up in the morning, exploding with surprise, to see an updated list of damage I'd done that month." She finished sourly.

Jack was so repulsed he said "Mog, they sound truely horrible. How could someone possibly think a child was a curse!" And, at that Morrigan stood up suddenly and, seeing the dejected look on Morrigan's face he said suddenly "Oh I'm so sorry Mog, I wasn't thinking-"

"No, it's all right Jack, they really were horrible, it's just- well, they were my family." She finished sadly. Jack walked around the bed and scooped her into a loving hug.

"It's alright Mog, you've got us now" he whispered in her ear. "Now" he said pulling away. "Are you going to give me back my jumper, or have you decided to support team green?" Said Jack with a smile. Morrigan looked down and with an expression of pure horror she realised she truely was still wearing Jack's jumper. She blushed and said "I'll be right back". She picked her navy pyjamas out of her wardrobe and quickly got changed in the bathroom. She walked back into the bedroom when she was finished, and Jack said "Wow, that's twice today you've worn a different colour other then black, what have you done with Morrigan Crow?" He asked jokingly.

"Ha ha" replied Morrigan with a smile. She lay back down on the bed beside Jack feeling immensely tired, warm and comfortable. The pair stayed in silence for a while, so Jack didn't notice that Morrigan had fallen asleep beside him, "Hey Mog?" Silence "Mog!" And then he looked over and saw her asleep with a small smile on her face. He stood up and placed the covers gently on Morrigan, lay back down next to her and fell asleep.
