Jack was closely intwined with a girl that was everything Morrigan was not. She had beautiful long and luscious blonde hair, sun-tanned skin and she was tall and well, beautiful. She vaguely heard Hawthorne yell "Oi!" and the Jack pushed the girl away, and to Morrigan's horrifying surprise she realised who the girl was. It was Noelle.

She felt tears cascading down her face before she ran from the room. She heard people yelling her name in the distance, but she didn't turn back. At the doorway, she met Jupiter, Dame Chanda, and Fenestra. She tried to barge straight pass them, but Jupiter grabbed her arm and looked into her face, concern etched into his face, said "Mog! What's wrong?" But she pulled her out of his grip and ran from the room, sobbing. She didn't know where she was going, but before she knew it, she was sitting in a ball on a sofa on the rooftop, sobbing uncontrollably. She heard footsteps coming up the stairs but she didn't bother to move. She knew who it would be. Jupiter sat down wordlessly next to Morrigan and put an arm around her shoulder and she leant into his shoulder and cried.

After a while, Jupiter said quietly "What did he do?" Morrigan didn't question how he knew about Jack, she thought that all of the staff had probably gossiped about them behind their backs. Then again, Jupiter was a Witness, so maybe he could just, well, See it.

"He was k-kissing No-Noelle" she said, and those words made her sob even more. Jupiter made a noise of outrage.
"The one that was rude to you at the Trials?" Questioned Jupiter with a look of rage. Morrigan nodded into his shoulder.

"I'm sorry Mog, and Jack should be too, after I've dealt with him."

"Please Jupiter, don't say anything, I don't want... I don't want you to." That's not what she was meaning to say, I don't want you to make him upset, he's obviously better off now.

Jupiter gave her a quizzical look and said "ok Morrigan, if you insist". They stayed there for a while until Morrigan said she was tired and she walked slowly back to her room and Jupiter went back to the party. She was sitting on the bed, in a daze when someone came barging into her room, followed by someone else.

"That little..." muttered Hawthorne, cracking his knuckles and rubbing his fists.

"Morrigan, are you ok?" Said Cadence with a concerned look.
"Yeah, I'm fine" said Morrigan.

Cadence shot her a look and Morrigan looked away, wiping a stray tear from her face. She got up and walked around blindly, when she found the new shoes Jack had bought for her, on her nightstand, a prime location, so she could always see them. She suddenly was filled to the brim  with a mix of anger and sadness. She picked one up and hurled it at the floor, and started to sob even harder. This seemed to awake Hawthorne from his trance and murder insults regarding Jack, because he wordlessly walked over to her and hugged her, while Cadence looked at her with a sincere look of pity.

"I had to mesmerise Hawthorne to stop him attacking Jack" Cadence said, changing the subject. Morrigan gave a half-hearted chuckle. After a while Cadence said "If you don't mind me asking, did you... well, did you know?" She asked tentatively. Morrigan sniffed and stifled a sob that was threatening to overcome her.

"No, I had no idea" She said, shortly. "I thought, well...." she trailed off. Cadence didn't question her any further and stood up joined their hug, and Morrigan thought she knew what she was going to say, she thought Jack liked her.

"I'm sorry Mog, I mean, you even wore red for him! He ruined your whole night!" Said Cadence angrily.

"The funny thing is, it was the best night I'd ever had up until then."

*my heart is broken 😭

Not long after that, the rest of unit 919 came to her bedroom and left through the black door.

"Come talk to me tomorrow, ok?" said Cadence.

"Ok" said Morrigan, still dazed. "See you then.... Oh wait! Cadence, can you do something for me?" She asked. Cadence agreed. Morrigan handed her the green jumper, the rose (which was without doubt enchanted somehow, because it still hadn't died) and the letter and instructed her to leave it outside Jack's door. After telling Cadence his room number, she was halfway out the door when she turned around. "Are you sure about this?" She asked. Morrigan hesitated for a moment.

"Yes."
