Sent 7:04 pm"Oh yeah sure. Ignore me like as if I'm not practically dying or anything." Bert said as he dropped his spoon onto the table.
I look up and realized that everybody was staring at me. Adam had his usual annoyed face while Bert looked... he looked pale, with slightly sunken eyes. And his clothes seemed to be a size bigger then him. His blue eyes that held so much pride now had a more broken look to them.
"Sorry." I sent Jo Jo a text saying that I had to go, and slipped my phone into my jacket pocket. "I was texting Jo Jo from work."
I took a bite of Adam's cooking and chewed. It's not half bad. The chicken leg was good, but the beans were cold. Today wasn't half bad either. Sure I was late, tackled Lloyd down like what they do in football, ran into some bullies, was yelled at by a random guy, got a ball kicked into my face... I think I should focus more on the pros rather then the cons. I mean, I got free ice cream!
"Didn't know you actually talked to people. Thought you just," Adam examined his piece of broccoli before eating it, "went to work, get food, and rarely interact to anyone."
I glared at him from across the table. "Gee, thank you for that lovely comment." I mutter with a roll of my eyes.
Even though Adam and Bertram Ghen were full blooded brothers, with the same black hair and the same skin color, they were nothing alike. The only thing they have in common was looks and sarcasm. While Bert was more on the chatty side and working all over the place, Adam was the one person who you would see not laughing in the crowd of a comedy show. It would probably just be a frown. "So I heard that Jo Jo was done until the baby comes. What do you hope it's gonna be?" Bert asked. His voice has most certainly gotten worse over the past few months.
"Mm, I'm hoping for a baby. What about you?" I asked.
He stared at his plate with a dreamy look in his eyes. Bert didn't say anything until he shrugged. "A girl would be nice. I kinda like the name Chloe."
I nodded. That's not a bad name. I think Chloe would be an adorable name for the baby, if it's a girl. "And if it's a boy?"
He hummed 'I don't know' and kept on eating his soup. I felt a tap on my foot and looked under the table. Todd being the cute and adorable puppy that he is, decided to pull the puppy eyes at me, begging for food. But Adam might get mad, and I don't wanna get kicked out... yet.
"Why do you care what the baby's named? It's not your kid." Adam spat. He has been known to be a blunt man and always causes the fights, so this was normal. "And if you think being good with the baby will let you get closer to Jo Jo, then-"
Bert grabbed his brother fork and stabbed it onto the table, making a thud noise. Me, Todd, and Adam jump from the sudden action, clearly not expecting that. My pet walked away, knowing now was not the time to be asking for food. The atmosphere went from calm to awkward and tense. It was silent for a few moments before the dark haired individual spoke. "What the hell crawled up your ass and died man? Ever since this morning, you've been in a pissed off mood. What happened?" His brother asked.
