Chapter 24
EVERYTHING AND everyone is prepared. The empire's dusk is bitterly cold, and the pavilion lights' gloomy yellow hue does little to cheer the lives of the warriors who are willing to put their lives in danger for the event that will take place later.
As soon as a trace of night from the sky was noticed, the pathways leading to the main hall leading to the entrance were jammed with warriors and weapons. As the youngsters of the wealthy class, who earlier were running around giddily with springtime delights, grew tired, quiet, and especially afraid of the warriors, screams and laughing quickly died down in the Imperial square.
All they need is his order, and they will take off. The goal is to put a swift stop to the conflict. They anticipate ending the battle in just one month, although most wars last years. They will be the ones to conquer, and since their Emperor is a skilled leader, it won't be challenging.
In addition, this conflict is the smallest one they will face in all the conflicts they have faced under the rule of Emperor Vassily. All they need to do is force the adversaries to submit, grab the territory, the populace, and the enemy emperor.
And they're prepared right now. However, Emperor Massimo is currently unable to be found, therefore everyone must wait patiently and savor the moment while they are still able to breathe fresh air because later they will be breathing air that is filled with a variety of horrible smells, such as metals, blood, and so on.
As an old man observed the Emperor strolling by himself into the servants' hall, an Elder of the empire, one of the high ranking officials, questioned, "Emperor, may I ask where are you headed to?"
He answered, "You don't have to know.
Emperor Massimo increased his speed to catch up with his great servant, who was undoubtedly also getting ready for potential assistance. He was disappointed to find that his favorite girl was not present; instead, the elderly matron was the only one exploring the area.
The soon the Matron spotted him, she exclaimed, "Emperor!" and bowed.
He responded promptly, "Brielle."
"Pardon me, Your Highness," the Matron said after becoming perplexed.
"Where is she? Bring her here," he sighed angrily.
The Matron moved quickly and took action right away. After a short while, Brielle emerged, looking incredibly bewildered. She treated him with respect right away. But he was frustrated because he absolutely had no idea how to act in her presence right now. She felt uneasy as he clenched his hands.
"E-Emperor," she stumbled as she said.
"Look at me, Brielle," he said as he approached and stood in front of her.
The attendant asked him, "W-what," in a perplexed tone.
"Take a good look at me," he added, lifting her chin. "Remember how I look, remember everything; you'll serve me for returning in one piece with no damage."
Her cheeks turned scarlet, and her eyes widened. She appears to be lost for words and unsure of what to do. And it was obvious that he was having fun as he observed her bewildered expression.
