Chapter 13

THE PEACE and serenity in the palace made it impossible to foresee an impending disaster. Because there isn't any carnage and the Emperor hasn't yet killed anyone today, it's extremely odd. He appeared to be in a cheerful mood. The palace seems so tranquil in spite of the impending battle. It almost seems like normal days, not a calamity, are just around the corner.

The leaves on the tree were continuously falling as the wind whistled. The girls carried on chit-chatting a short distance away from everyone beneath the tree. As they discuss about the nobles, they began removing the fallen leaves from the area. Since they are cleaning as part of their employment, they are probably not going to be fired for this. In addition, they were speaking quietly, making it unlikely that anyone could hear them.

Brielle sighed after realizing things, "If only this war could be stopped."

Many things, including the Empire and the populace, will be impacted by the impending war. Because war is no laughing matter, fear cannot be removed in the Emperor's subjects. It is not something to be amused about. If the impending tragedy is not averted, the western lands will be jeopardized.

Winter shook her head, "It won't be."

"What? Why?" Brielle asked, her eyes dilated in confusion and shock. Is there really no stop to this problem? If a war happens, a lot will be affected. Even if the West Vassily empire is safe, there's no assurance that it'll always be safe.

As Winter cleaned beside her, she said, "I've heard that the Grand Emperor has finally decided to attack the Algrande empire. This means the war will eventually come," the girl explained. "You can make anyone talk, but not the Grand Emperor, because when he said it, he meant it."

Brielle gasped, "Oh, and what about Emperor Massimo?"

"What do you mean, what about him? Of course he'll lead the war." Winter replied.

Confusion filled Brielle's eyes. "What?"

Winter added, "He'll be there, in the epic fight. It might not look like it, but he actually carries heavy loads. He has the most difficulty in this Empire since he carries us on his shoulders. He will guide his people in capturing the other empire."

When Brielle heard Winter's worries about the Emperor, she instantly felt a mixture of pity and horror and gasped, "Oh my ghad! What's happening in the west?"

The only thing Winter could say was, "I don't know. The west has the noisiest empire. That's all I could say. Everything that's happening in the east, west, and south empires is happening in the north empire, so the north empire is probably the most problematic Vassily empire because it's the main. Emperor Maximus is the only Vassily who smiles, but everyone says that behind those smiles lurks the devil himself. Scary."

Brielle collected the leaves in one place to burn it later as Winter continued to speak.

"The East Empire is the calmest amongst the Vassily empires, no matter how troublesome Emperor Magnus is. He's rebelious, but his problem stays in his empire. I've never heard a report of war in the East. The South Empire is also kind of calm. I don't know. I don't really know what's going on there, but I've heard Emperor Macsen is wise enough to take care of everything in his hands. Did you know? According to the rumors, he's the most manipulative of the Vassilys!"

Brielle yanked Winter, "Lower your voice, they might hear us gossiping about the Royal family!"

Winter's lips gaped. However, she continued, "Emperor Magnus is the most rebelious. No matter how hard the Grand Emperor tells him to do or not do something, he never listens! Emperor Macsen is the wisest and most cunning. I've never seen how it works, but I've heard it's scary. You never know what's on his mind, but he's always the mastermind. "

Brielle yanked at Winter, "Are you sure it's safe here to talk about them?"

Winter just shrugged and continued talking. She was so all in about the topic, "Then, Emperor Maximus? I don't know. But everyone says he's the perfect definition of a Vassily. Thinking about the definition of Vasily creeps me. I can never define him. Just thinking about it scares me. But they say he's Lucifer himself, beautiful but deadly. Agh, I don't want to talk about him. He scares me the most amongst the Vassilys."

Both of them shuddered. Some servants walked past the hallways, and they both shut up. But when the servants walked past, Winter began murmuring again.

"Emperor Massimo is the wildest; he's the Vassily who lusts for blood among the others. Look at this. We just overpowered several empires, and now a war in the west is about to happen again. He's the Vassily who lusts for blood. I won't be surprised if I hear he challenges every empire in the west," Winter said, his voice filled with fear. "That Vassily is a courageous man, and that is who he is."

Brielle groaned. It is evident that Emperor Massimo was harming—no, he was slaughtering—someone the first time she was moved inside the palace. It's abnormal how they developed. It's not something a man with a pure and joyful childhood would do. It's not typical conduct for someone with fond recollections of his childhood. What unfortunate circumstances led Emperor Massimo to become into a monster? No, were the Vassilys, with whom they were raised, the devils?

"The western is the noisiest. You may not feel it now, but this is actually the empire that has the most war." Winter said, abruptly grabbing Brielle's attention, "Although Emperor Massimo handles the situation professionally, we cannot help but fear. Even though he's ruthless and merciless, and his ways are so far and beyond what we can handle, he's the perfect Emperor to take care of this empire. "

That's accurate. Who would dare to govern such a vast Empire with such obstinate people? This empire won't prosper and the populace would always rebel against Emperor Massimo if he is not scary. But because they are aware of the Vassilys' hues, his subjects are cautious around him. He manages his empire with ease and overthrows other empires to establish his own rule. What else could be done?

"That's probably enough or we might get caught talking about them behind their backs." Brielle finally said to stop the conversation as it was getting deeper, "If we're going to be careful, we should hold back on them the most. They're more threatening than assassins."

Winter concurred, and they both decided to concentrate on cleaning. Brielle, though, couldn't help but consider how perilous Emperor Massimo's youth must have been. If he had received proper instruction, he would not have developed into the manipulating, war-planning, heartless king he is at the moment. What's wrong with these Vassilys?

After cleaning the yard, Winter tugged her to the pavilion hallways, saying, "That's true, let's go. I'm getting terrified. For real."

There's a problem, Brielle could sense it. There will be an event; a disaster is imminent.
