Chapter 09

IT IS scary. The word Brielle could describe what happened at that time. She tried to shake it off, but thinking that she was getting bullied by the Emperor himself made her cry. How can she avoid him? How can she stop him? How can she forget what had just happened between them? And why would he do such a thing to a servant like her? Is it because she's just a lowly human? That crazy man will be the death of her.

"Focus Brielle," she whispered to herself. "It won't happen again. The Emperor is not here, he's not here."

She is planning to use this tactic. If that happens again, she'll leave the palace and look for assistance.

She is thinking about this strategy. If that occurs once more, she will quit the palace and seek employment elsewhere, no matter how low the pay. Vassily's cruelty, especially that of Emperor Massimo, was too much for her weak heart to bear.

She groaned and whispered to herself, "Do your work." She managed to get through that night, but she couldn't help but feel worried. She worries that the Emperor could reappear at any time and abuse her. Now that she sees him for what he truly is—a beast hiding in plain sight—he is a monster in her eyes. Brielle is terrified of him.

Winter and her are not as tired because the outside is not as dirty, and the Matron is no longer being so rude to her. Perhaps this is how she is with newcomers to test their ability to be patient and obedient. Brielle can't hold the matron responsible either because she had a duty to ensure the welfare of her personnel as the person in charge.

Emperor Massimo continued to stay absent as the days turned into a week; perhaps, like his brothers, he was attending to some task. One of the things she admires about them is how busy they are. They are in charge of running their own empires at such a young age. Despite their reputation for ruthlessness, nobody can deny that they are skilled at ruling populations and empires. Imagine having a large family with their own regions to govern. The Vassilys carried it out.

Emperor Massimo has accomplished a lot at such a young age, how can anyone not be amazed. But despite his achievements, no one can now convince Brielle to reconsider her decision. He is the actual devil.

As Brielle moved across the spacious hallway, she caught sight of a massive picture frame. She paused for a time to take a long, hard look at the terrifying family. The Vassilys have the ability to stop you in your tracks even if you are furious with them. They have incredible visuals.

Massimo, the emperor, is little distinguishable from his siblings. She progressively learned about the Vassilys during her daily stay here at the palace by listening to the servants' talks, and she can now state that they are quite ominous characters.

Winter, who had just materialized behind her, questioned, "Who's the most handsome? Well, everyone's looking fantastic. It's hard to tell. Emperor Massimo hits different tho," she added.

Winter was confronted by Brielle, who had a dejected expression on her face. "You, you have a crush on him?" Brielle asked.

Winter retorted in a joking tone, "I think I saw the Emperor walking to the wine room then, I know you were there, what happened?"

Before Brielle realized it, tears were streaming freely from her eyes as memories flashed before her eyes.

Winter stroked her cheeks and murmured, "What's wrong? Did something awful happen?"

Fear awoke in Brielle. She is threatened by the thought that Winter may become embroiled in her problems. It can't happen that the Emperor also bullies her friends. She will remain silent for the time being about what took place in that room, as much as she's hoping that someone will have faith in her, she just chose to remain quiet because obviously no one will believe her. She is attempting to fight the Emperor in this situation.
