Chapter 44

IS BEAUTY a curse, or a blessing?

The Emperor developed an infatuation over her as a result of his fascination with her beauty. Lord Araullo, who has also grown obsessed with her, feels the same way, and they're both toxic. She was apprehended. She was being held captive by someone she trusted.

Her hands and feet are tied to a post, and she is unable to run or even stand. She just wants to die because of everything that has happened in her life, but Lord Araullo will not let her harm herself as he kept away all the things that she could use to hurt herself. And she needs to live in order to find Alaric. Everyone has been so toxic to her, and this type of obsession is so unhealthy that it could kill her.

She has been in Lord Araullo's mansion's basement for three days as far as she is aware. The condition of that man is worse than that of the Emperor. Brielle kind of understands she needs to avoid the Emperor because his attitude or beast wasn't hidden. Brielle, however, had no idea that Lord Araullo was capable of such a thing. She is currently in her third day and is unsure if she will ever survive.

Alaric, how is he doing? She has been detained here and is just thinking about her son. Day and night, she has been sobbing and calling out Alaric's name. This is the worst thing that could have ever happened to her, and she is so upset. Let her endure until she was unable to breathe, but don't let Alaric be a subject to her curse.

Without the gloomy lamp shade hanging from the poles outside the chamber, the area would have been completely dark and she would not have been able to see anything. It's completely dark, and terror keeps paralyzing her. Although having been there for three days, she still finds it difficult to adjust to the darkness and solitude. She continues to be terrified for her life and wonders how and why this is all occurring.

"Alaric, my boy," she said with sorrow. "Oh God, please keep him safe..."

The entryway to the basement and her room were both filled with the thundering sound of heavy, expensive shoes. A figure with a torch is clearly approaching her while pacing in the direction of her cell. When Brielle heard the footsteps echoing across the pitch-black room, she began to shake. He is the only one that visits her, hence he is the only one who could make this sound.

Lord Araullo.

"Eat," his baritone voice roared her room. He lifted his lamp and she finally saw his face. And she did not feel anything but wrath, because behind those innocent bare face is a monster.

He threw the basket full of the same fruit. It was overloaded with only one fruit; apple. He's been consistently giving her apples, and she don't understand why.

"Don't worry. I'll let you out when it's safe." He said while entering her chamber.

Brielle kicked the basket and the apples scattered on the dirty floor, she growled; "Let me out now!"

Lord Araullo sighed and said, "No." He picked up the apples and cleaned it with his clothes. "Stop being a brat, I don't want to feed you dirty apples."

Brielle sobbed, "I came here as your maid, not as your slave. It's different my Lord, right? Why are you treating me like this? And where is my son? What did you do to him? Let me see him!"

He stopped cleaning the apples and crouched down to level her, "I'm just protecting you, baby..." he said and fondled her face, "That's why you're here."

She avoided his hand and growled against him, "How is this protecting me? You've been keeping me here like a monster... like a slave. What do you take me for, Lord Araullo?"
