The morning after their night of passion, the royals were required to have a breakfast together. Madeleine and Charles couldn't stop smiling and looking at each other, the whole family could see it. But they didn't question why, they knew the two young royals had been fond of each other. Everyone but Amelie had been okay with it, the jealousy in her had sparked. She looked at all of the Royals smiling excitedly. "Charles and I decided to have a baby, and we are hoping after last night we will have one." She threw a little smirk Madeleine's way. Everyone was silent for a moment, no one knew what to say. Francis had broken the silence. "Well congratulations Charles, Amelie." Followed by his wife. "Yes, Congratulations" she said while looking to see if okay. Madeleine just gave her a small nod, then looks at Charles with a look that could kill. She wasn't angry that he was having a child with his wife, it was the normal thing to do. She was angry that after she had left, he had shared the same passion with his wife, right after they had. It hurt her, but she wasn't going to admit that, not to herself not to anyone. Charles looked over at her apologetically, but she didn't even make eye contact with him. He wanted to reach out and grab her hand but he couldn't. Madeleine quickly got up excusing herself from the table, she had to go she had to get away from there, from Charles, from his marriage. "Excuse me your majesty's I have some business to take care of back home. If you could please set a date for Henri and I's wedding that would be great. I need to get home as soon as possible." She stated then looked at Charles but only for a second.
Madeleine headed to her chambers telling her guards to not let anyone in. But before she could finish Charles appeared. "Go away, I don't want to see you. I don't want to talk to you, and I sure as hell don't want to risk my head for you." She said with pain clearly evident in her voice, storming into her room. He followed, closing the door then walked over to her. "Cupcake, please just listen." His voice was soft, yet pleading. "No Charles. No! I thought I could do this but I can't! I don't want to share you with another! Not even your wife!" she shouted at him pushing him away.
"Cupcake, I had too. She came in after and I wasn't clothed. What did you expect me to do?! I couldn't tell her the truth, I couldn't risk exposing us!" he was still pleading with her to be reasonable. They went all in and there was no turning back. He couldn't and he didn't want too. She looked at him, the tears she was trying to hold back escaping her eyes. She couldn't stop them once they started flowing. How could things have gotten this hard?! Why couldn't she have been the one he married?! Charles held her close letting her cry on his shoulder. The small gesture was comforting to both him and the young queen. Eventually she stopped crying and they were enjoying being embraced in each other's arms.
Charles chuckled slightly. "If it makes you feel any better, I accidentally mumbled your name. I tried to play it off, but I think she heard." Madeleine giggled uncontrollably. " oh Charles you fool!" She smacked him playfully.
"Only a fool for you my love." He stated placing a small kiss on her lips. "I love you, never her" he whispered in her ear. And suddenly those small words had made her feel better. Even if it was just for a moment.
