The trial of young Amelie Narcisse was over before it began. King Francis and Queen Mary had ruled what she had done as treason. Both Madeleine and Charles proud of it. Today was the day that she would loose her head in just moments. The mixed emotions of the crowd were evident more then ever, both present of remorse and greed for revenge. It was both a sad day and a day where justice would be served. And an attempt on a Queens life definitely could and would not go unpunished. Everyone was in their places waiting eagerly for the events of the day to take place. The king and Queen of France on their thrones, Madeleine clutched to Henri's side with Charles close by, and Luc and Stephane Narcisse stood close by with guards watching their every move.
Suddenly Lady Amelie was escorted out by her guards and the crowd of nobles fell silent. She and the guards slowly made her way to the stage where the execution would take place. Amelie stood on the stage staring out at the crowd then directly at Madeleine smirking before she spoke. "I may be meeting my death in a matter of seconds but I won't go peacefully." She kneels down near the block. "You're Irish Queen is not so innocent as she seems. She was having an affair with my husband, who she had carried his child until I poisoned her. And on that I have no regrets. I just thought the good people of Ireland should know that their Queen is a ruined woman." the nobles all gasped at what they had heard.
Charles, Madeleine and Henri just shared a look with each other before Madeleine took off up on the stage standing directly in front of the lady. "Oh Lady Amelie how dare you accuse a Queen of such thing!? How dare you suggest that I've been unfaithful to my fiancée?! I've never laid with a man before. And you will regret every lie that has come out of our mouth today!" She shouted looking down upon the girl. But now it was Amelie's turn to speak. "And what makes you think they will believe you? What makes you think that these people won't take you down with me?! You see I could have just ruined your reputation, like my husband did mine. " she stated bravely, which set the Queens anger a flame. " I don't give a damn about my reputation in France, my people will believe their Queen! So go ahead Lady Amelie! Try to ruin me! But your head will roll and I will gladly put it on a pike for the world to see! Because I am queen! And yet you dare to challenge me! I may not be your queen but I am still a queen! And trust me this is merciful for you! I could drag you back to Ireland and have them torture you before they take your head! I could have you hung in public for you all to see! Use you as an example for the world, not to ever underestimate me! But I'm doing you a favor! I'd want to humiliate you even farther but I won't cause your husband any more shake like you are now! So use your last words very wisely lady Amelie and not humiliate yourself any farther!" She shouts then kneels down whispering in her ear for only her to hear. "Lady Amelie, your husband was always mine. He never once thought of your during our nights of passion. And we I'll have many more after you are gone." She smiles walking of the stage and back into a Henri's arms.
Lady Amelie didn't have time to respond, Francis and Mary had enough of the bickering. They nodded at each other and then at the executioner. The axe suddenly rose, the Narcisse's trying to get out of the guards arms to save their loved ones, there screams started the executioner. But once again the axe rose and fell, and soon Lady Amelie's head came tumbling to the ground. Shrieks made its way through the crowd, but all Madeleine could do was sigh in relief. She looked over a Charles then at her head, just for a moment she felt sorry for the young girl, she was married to a man who didn't love her. And soon Madeleine would be to if she didn't do something about it and fast. Or she would he stuck with Henri, all she could do was stare at the head. But she could feel Henri running his hands up and down her back and Charles staring at them with jealousy present in his eyes, but also hurt for the young bride he had lost.
For a moment Madeleine realized that he did love his wife in some way, not as much as he loved Madeleine, but enough to spark jealously in the young Queen. After all she still is a teenager madly in love with the man who married another women by choice or not. And she was going to punish him the only way she knew how too. She looked at him with a smirk in present on her face as she walked out taking Henri to her chambers. She didn't want to seduce Prince Henri just to get back at Charles, but also to forget everything. Her love for the man, the beheading of the wife that killed her child and almost herself, the duties of Queen, the marriage that she owes to France and the same love she has for Henri, like Charles did for Amelie. She had almost made it into her chambers with Henri, but the sound of Charles voice stopped her dead in her tracks.
Madeleine could see that her young prince needed her, and Henri did to. Due to the fact Charles dropped to his knees holding onto Madeleine's legs crying. Her love was a mess and she couldn't stand by and do nothing. She looked at Henri speaking softly "Excuse me Prince Henri but I am needed by your brother." She stated calmly before she helped Charles into her chambers, slamming the door in his face. Henri had known before that he didn't have the love of the queen he was so in love with, and now he knew that he would never have it. For his fiancé was in her chambers with his brother.
Madeleine held Charles for hours whispering sweet I love you's and words of encouragement. He had finally fallen asleep, leaving Madeleine with her thoughts.
One thing clear as ever, even as times such as now. She was going to marry this boy, one way or another. They needed each other to stay sane, that was clear.
