Aaron and I land in Sacramento around eight in the evening. There is a car waiting for us outside to take us to the hotel that Lexie booked on Jackson's behalf. Aaron and I would be spending the night at the hotel before leaving in the middle of the said night to head to Bodega Bay. Jackson and I have both agreed to leave our cell phones in LA, and it was killing me to not talk to him.
Two days before my plane hopping adventures, my husband and dog left in our new SUV towards the wedding venue up the coast. I missed them both so much that my heart ached.
Aaron opened my door at the hotel and grabbed our bags. "In about six hours we'll leave here." He said giving me the room key.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" I ask him nervous.
Normal couples don't have to sneak around for their weddings, they could freely shop for dresses, flowers, food, and such. Not me, I had to use my assistant and manager for almost everything. Nicole helped me with the dress because we were almost the same size, that turned out great for everyone because when Hank saw her in a wedding dress, he started planning for their big day.
Aaron grins at me. "It better. Everyone is going through a lot of work to make this perfect."
"I just can't wait to see him," I whine.
"Avery, I'm really happy for the two of you. Jackson is the perfect guy for you, and he keeps you balanced. I'm so happy this is finally happening." He hugs me before walking into his room across the hall from mine.
I make my way into my suite and find the bathroom. The first thing I do is wash my face and run a hot bath. I start laughing about my last two days, now that I have a moment to let it all absorb. Aaron and I boarded a plane from Boston and from there have been hopping a plane to plane in hopes of throwing people off our trails. In Toronto, we board a private jet to keep our next location a secret. The media was in a tailspin with my whereabouts, everyone was writing about it and guessing my destination. None of the stories were even close to the truth.
After my bath, I tuck into my king-size bed and grab my notebook. I open my page of vows, determined that tonight would be the evening I finish them. Excitement races through my veins because, in five short days, Jackson and I would finally be able to tell everyone we were husband and wife. No longer would it be a secret between us, our friends and family would finally know. My pen fills three pages of thoughts and things I want to tell him in front of everyone.
My eyelids are heavy, and I finally give in to sleep. I put the notebook and pen on the nightstand, set my alarm for four hours from now, and turn off the bedside light.
My alarm jolts me awake and I race to get ready. In two hours and forty-three minutes, I will finally see my husband. I'm anxious to see him and kiss him like there is no tomorrow. I'm waiting outside Aaron's door tapping my foot.
"I haven't seen my husband for three weeks. We need to move." I grin at him.
"Let's go get you married." He smiles before grabbing my bag.
The closer we get to the resort, the more impatient I become. I can't sit still or stop asking if we are almost there. Aaron laughs and wonders if his wife was this excited before their wedding. To pass the last minutes of the drive, I recite my vows to Aaron and ask for his input. In typical boy fashion, he tells me that they sound nice. Rolling my eyes, I tell him he's the worst and look out my window.
The rest of the drive is silent.
Aaron pulls into the lodge, and I jump out before it's even in park. Jackson is waiting outside with a huge smile on his face. He starts walking towards our car and I take off in a dead run. His arms open and I jump into them and wrap my legs around his waist.
