THE PLAYGROUND

CHAPTER NINETEEN

     She stared at herself in the mirror, trying to decide if the outfit was right. It was her first official date with Gale and well the first date she would be going on and she was very nervous. Well sure she was in a relationship before but she never went on a date with Aiden.

She had changed outfit twice now and she was putting on a black mini dress that stopped right above her knees. She left her silky blonde hair down and even curled it a bit and she added make up but not too much that it seemed like she was trying too hard. She decided to finish it off with her brown leather purse and flats. Grabbing her jacket, she left her room and went down to the living room where Gale was getting stern warnings by her mom and dad.

"Oh look, she's here." Gale said to direct their attention to her.

"Wow, you look gorgeous." Her mom said as she walked up to her. "Its so nice to see you this happy." She smiled from ear to ear causing Alexa to smile also.

"Don't worry mom, we won't stay out late."

"Good. Now run along." She shooed both of them out of the house and locked the door behind them. They laughed for a while before Gale's expression changed.

"You look really beautiful." He said, catching her by surprise. She could only blush in response and it was enough for him.

They were heading to an Italian restaurant where he had made reservations earlier but before they got there, Gale got an emergency call. "I'm sorry Lexi but I have to attend to this." He apologized as he pulled the car to a stop.

"Why?, I thought it was your day off." She complained, pouting like a little girl.

"I am, but it sounds pretty Important."

"Okay. Then can I go with you?."

"I don't see why not. Buckle up." He turned on the siren as the car sped up and in no time they had arrived at the station.

"What's the situation?." He demanded as his partner handed him some pictures.

"Six more bodies were found this morning sir."

"Who found them?."

"I did sir, on my morning patrol."

"Location?."

"At the park, the one close to the baron's club."

"Cause of death?."

"Same sir."

Alexa tried getting a peak at the photos but they were walking too fast that she had to speed walk to catch up to them.

"Gale!", she yelled but looked around to see some officers staring at her. "uh officer gale?." She corrected but still felt awkward because some people were still staring at her.

"Oh sorry dear. Silly me, I forgot you were behind me." He said something to his partner and hurried to her and she whispered. "Sorry I called you Gale."

"Its alright darling. Shall we?." He smiled mischievously and before she could warn him against doing something ridiculous, he lifted her up, bridal style and not caring about all the stares and murmurs, he headed for his office.

When they got there, they were both breathless from laughing. Alexa's smile faded away when she set her eyes on a certain photograph on his desk. "Gale, who's this?."

"One of the victims that were found this morning. Why?."

"She was my in my class."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Were you two close?."

"Not really. We only spoke like three times. But she was a nice girl."

"Don't worry Lexi, we'll make Josie pay for all the innocent lives she took." He pulled her in his arms to comfort her.

"Morris, how is it going?."

"I'll bring her in by sunset."

"Good, because that brat grows stronger by day. If we don't destroy her soon, it might become impossible."

"I won't let you down mistress."

"You better don't."

She hung up and walked towards the young man waiting for her. "Yes?" She demanded as she sat cross legged and waited for him to start.

"Mistress, I know how you can get Alexa."

"How?."

"I have proof that she's going out with the cop that arrested your son."

"Show me."

The man on his knees shakily stretched out his hand with his phone showing a picture of the two kissing.

"Ugh love, it makes me sick. Okay I have an assignment for you."

"Anything mistress."

"Find a way to bring him to me and I will reward you greatly."

"Mistress, can't someone else do this, it's a pretty hard job."

"You dare to refuse me?!." Her nostrils flared with anger.

"N-n-no mistress." He bowed at her feet.

"Bring him to me or suffer the consequences."

"Y-y-yes mistress." He shakily got up and walked out.

"Sorry our date didn't go as planned."

"Are you kidding, it was awesome. I had fun. I'd choose eating ice cream at your office than going to an Italian restaurant any day." She smiled so sweetly that he couldn't resist kissing her.

Alexa's eyelids fluttered close as her parted pink lips were captured beneath the sensual heat of his mouth. Her heart began to pound and her breath came in shaky gasps. Gale deepened the kiss, teasing her lips farther apart with the tip of his tongue. Breathlessly, they ended the kiss and Alexa smiled shyly before turning to open the door.  "Won't you come in?"

"Maybe some other time. Good night little darling."

"Good night Gale." He drove off and Alexa went in smiling like she has just won a lottery.

"Excuse me young lady."

"Yeah?."

"I'm lost and I need your assistance."

"What can I help you with sir?."

He moved closer to her and blew a powder substance at her face causing her to fall unconscious. He lifted her on his shoulders but was stopped by Gale who immediately pointed a gun at him to stop him from moving. "Gently drop the lady and get on your knees."

"And if I don't?."

"Then you'd be the first person to taste my pistol today."

"You're not gonna shoot me."

"Try me."
