THE PLAYGROUND

CHAPTER TEN

Chris brought out his phone and was about to dial the number when Aiden roughly shoved Alexa and ran out of the room. Chris ran after him but he was too fast, he got out of the house before he could get to him.

Dave glanced over at Alexa and he felt bad for his little sister. She looked so heartbroken, he had no idea what Aiden could've done to hurt her that much and honestly he didn't really care. The fact that he even hurt her at all was enough to make him hate him.

Chris came back up and told them he had called the cops and they would get there in a couple of minutes. About ten minutes later, they heard a knock on the door and when Chris opened it, it was officer gale and he looked like he had bad news. "Can I come in?"

"Of course. Is everything ok?"

"I'm afraid not. Are your siblings in?"

"Yeah. Why don't you take a seat while I go get them."

Officer gale sat on the couch, his face, expressionless and it made Chris a little nervous. He went to call Alexa and Dave and soon they were seated in the living room and they waited for officer gale to start.

"This might be hard to believe, especially for you miss Alexa but I have reasons to believe that Mr Aiden might have been working for late Mrs smith."

Neither of them said a word, Chris just looked at Alexa and her expression told him that she knew already.

Officer gale waited for a reply but when he didn't get any, he added "Nothing, really?. I was expecting you to say something."

"We kinda already knew that, that's why we called the cops. Why were you the only one that showed up anyway?"

Chris wanted to ask the same thing but Dave just beat him to it.

"About that, I got here with my partner actually."

"Then where is he?"

"I told him to stay in the car. Now back to you guys, you said you already knew that Aiden was working for Mrs Smith."

"Yes, well actually Alexa was the one who found out."

"Found out what, exactly?"

"That Aiden was nothing but a filthy liar!!"

"Calm down Alexa, tell me what happened "

Dave put his arm around her shoulder and it made her feel a little better. She still couldn't believe she didn't suspect him earlier, she felt so used. To think that she used to date the jerk who helped that witch destroy her family's happiness. She took a deep breath and continued.

"He was talking to someone on the phone and I heard him mention dad's name then he said...he said we lost him, and when I heard that, I asked him what he meant but he couldn't answer. Then I....I threatened him with a knife."

Officer gale raised a hand to stop her "you threatened him with a knife?"

"Only so I could get him to talk."

"Okay, continue."

"After I threatened him with the knife, he started talking. He said he didn't want to do it at first, but Josie forced him to. He said he was the one who killed Jenny... that they took dad also but they don't know where he is now."
