THE PLAYGROUND

CHAPTER ELEVEN

The woman looked at her with pity "so be it" and before she could do anything, she felt a sharp pain in her chest then she saw a dagger stained with blood in the woman's hand. She looked down at her chest and tried to stop the bleeding with her hands.

Dave and Chris screamed and hurried to her, she tried to go to them also but she fell to the ground. As she laid there, a lot of things crossed her mind. She didn't want to die now, there was still so much she hadn't done. They still hadn't found their dad yet and what about their mom?, she lost Jenny, was she gonna loose her too?.

She opened her mouth to say something but all that came out was blood. She had turn pale and cold and she felt like her life was slowly slipping away from her. She heard someone calling out to her, she looked up and saw the most beautiful valley she had ever seen, and in the middle of it, jenny was there, smiling at her, beckoning her to go to her and she was happy that she was going to be with her once again. She took one last look at her brothers and smiled at them one last time then....her eyes slowly closed and her body went limp.

As Chris and David watched Alexa lay lifeless on the ground, their hearts shattered into a million pieces. She meant everything to them and now, she was gone.

Chris fumbled with the phone, trying to call an ambulance but his hands wouldn't stop shaking. David felt really bad for him, he loved Alexa more than anything in this world, he wanted to comfort him but he couldn't find the words to do so. Chris looked up at David, tears filling his hazel eyes "she's....she's gonna be ok, right? Cause if she isn't, I don't know what I'll..." His voice cracked and caught in his throat. David pulled him in his arms and minutes passed and they just sat there comforting each other.

After what seemed like hours, the ambulance finally arrived along with some cops and they helped Alexa into the ambulance where they administered first aid treatment to her.

The cops were asking Chris some questions but he could hardly answer, sadness obvious in his eyes. "Why don't you head on to the hospital with Alexa?, I'll handle things here". 

Chris hurried to the ambulance that was almost leaving and David faced the cops to answer whatever question they had and lucky for him, officer gale was the officer in charge.

" I need to talk to you, its quite urgent "

David wondered what could be more urgent than the situation on ground. "sure okay."

He walked away from the crowd and they moved towards his patrol car. "This might sound crazy but....I think Josie's alive."

"Yeah, I know."

"Look, I know this sounds crazy but......wait, you know?, how?"

"Well, she visited us this morning. She was the one who stabbed Alexa. How do you know?"

"Well, since Joanne has been in our custody, no one visited her until two days ago. The officer in charge said a woman who claimed to be a distant relative visited her and about an hour after she left, Joanne passed away."

"She's dead?"

"Yes"

"Okay but how does that explain Josie being alive?"
