Anna Delaney
"No way. Not tonight," I said as I tried to get out of the plans I had with my roommates.
"We are not taking 'no' for an answer so go get dressed. We're leaving in thirty minutes," Natasha ordered. I looked pleadingly at our other roommate, Brielle, but she was no help.
I made my way to my room surprised when I found a red, spaghetti strapped dress waiting for me on my bed. Of course Natasha already picked out a dress for me. That's just who she is.
While Brielle was always a Type A person, Natasha was more outgoing which basically means that she was a hot mess but nothing could ever make me not love her for it. I first gravitated towards her when she had told a professor off for being a sexist pig and ever since then, she has been my partner in crime.
I plopped down onto my bed grabbing my curling iron as I scanned my room. I always tried to mute out the voices of the city and myself once a day. It gave me time and space to think, to think about how I had gone from nothing to this ... my room wasn't particularly big but it was comfortable and affordable.
"I have always wanted blonde hair," Natasha frowned as she jumped onto the bed next to me.
I almost forgot to mention that Parker means Parker Industries, she is her father's one and only heir. She also happens to be a millionaire as well.
That fact always slips my mind somehow.
Once I was satisfied with my clothes and appearance, I made my way to the living room where everyone was waiting. "Oh shit, I forgot my purse. One second," Brielle rushed to her room. I met her at Harvard as well but we were never as close as Natasha and I are. Brielle has always been a kind hearted, giving, and a caring person. She is very quiet which is surprising since she socializes a lot as a nurse. "Alright. I got it, let's go," Brielle said as she went to the door to open it for the rest of us.
Brielle and I shared an astonished look as we entered the enormous limo Natasha rented. Natasha was always over the top but we never got used to the luxuries she liked to spoil us with. After getting seated, Natasha shoved glasses of champagne in our hands. "Drink up ladies, we are pre-gaming," she sipped. Natasha has always been and will always be a party girl. I decided that I didn't want to get drastically drunk tonight as last time I got drunk, Natasha captured it all on video and showed it to all of our other friends. Very embarrassing.
As the limousine came to a halt, my jaw dropped as I realized that Natasha brought us to one of the hottest clubs in New York City. When we entered the club, she led us to the side table where we would meet up with some of her friends. As we waited, I decided I would get us some drinks before her friends arrived.
When I did, I was greeted by the typical bartender and ordered 3 vodka shots. My favorite by the way. When I had the drinks in hand, I tried to maneuver my way through the club to our table when all of a sudden a warm chest collided with the drinks in my hand.
Seriously, how could this person not see me? It's not like I'm that short, I have the average height for a women like me. You have to be blind in order to not see me.
As if I could not be any more embarrassing. "I-I am so sorry," I apologize as I looked up at the most handsome stranger I have ever seen. His black hair was styled back while his magnetic brown eyes looked at me in disdain . His perfect jaw was clenched and his mouth opened to say, "Watch where you are going," he said rudely while looking down at his ruined shirt.
"You know, you ran into me, right?" I fired back.
"No, I didn't know. Thank you for informing me," he said sarcastically.
"Jerk," I stated and left. That man may have the looks but he certainly did not have the personality.
"Where are the shots?" Brielle asked when I made my way to the table.
"This jerk ran into me and they fell. Sorry," I explained.
"Was he a good-looking jerk? Maybe you could- oh there they are!" Natasha screamed as she waved at her friends.
"Guys, this is Isaac and Lana. Issac and Lana, this is Brielle and Anna," Natasha introduced us. We shared pleasantries and when it got to small talk, I realized that I was not in the mood for partying tonight.
"Hey Nat, you know I love you but I am exhausted and I have some job applications to fill out so I am going to head home, okay?" I told Nat.
She nodded her head and gave me a smile showing me that she was perfectly content with me leaving. As I gathered my things and got ready to leave, I spotted the handsome, jerk stranger walking towards our table. Is he walking towards me? Is he mad at me? Does he want money for his shirt? All of my questions were suddenly answered when he shared a hand shake with Isaac and a hug with Lana. Then, Nat introduced him as one of her friends.
"And this is Damon. Who is always late to hanging out so never count on him for anything. Damon, this is Brielle and Anna," Natasha introduced us and pointed to me as I was getting up from my chair with my purse half way up my shoulder. I don't know how he does it, but his eyes look like they are staring into the deepest part of your soul. They look as if they can see right through the facade of a persona that you put up.
He just nodded at me and Brielle with no greeting or introduction. Before leaving, I glanced back at the table, everyone was laughing except for Damon. He was looking right at me, those brown eyes bearing into my soul once again infuriating me.
