ANNA DELANEY

That first moment when you wake up is pure bliss. It's the moment when you forget about everyone and everything but two seconds pass and you start to remember and to be honest, I wish I didn't wake up this morning. The pain lacing my chest is unbearable, the fact that everyone close to me lied to me for years makes me want to stay in bed all day and never come out.

But I was at Damon's penthouse and I will not give him the satisfaction of helping me. Not when he knew this whole time.

So I packed my bags, grabbed my phone, and went back to my apartment.

"Yeah, my Dad is taking me out to lunch tomorrow. Said something about meeting his new fiancee. He has a new one every five years, it never lasts," Taylor said as she made photocopies. "He buys me a beer, then tells me about her and five seconds later, boom. They're married," she laughed.

"Get me a beer," Doug had said loud and clear from the couch. There were cans on cans of empty beer lying all around him. "Now," he yelled, getting impatient.

I was sensitive at the time and I wasn't used to the kind of lifestyle we were living in so tears trickled down my cheeks as I opened the fridge trying to find him a beer. I didn't know what kind of beer he liked so, I kept glancing between a brown glass bottle or a blue can but before I could reach for one, Doug pulled on my hair throwing me to the ground.

"I ask you one simple thing to do and you can't even do it," he remarked, shaking his head as he got the glass bottle out. Before he could turn around, I stood up trying to wipe away my tears so he wouldn't see them. "You're crying? I haven't even given you anything to cry about," he said before his palm flew across my cheek slapping me hard. "There. Now you can cry," he smiled as he retreated back to his spot on the couch.

My hands were shaking, I guess I might have zoned out thinking about those years when Doug had stayed with my mother.

"Anna?" Taylor asked before someone's hands covered my own.

"Come on," Damon said, removing his hand from mine as I turned my head to find everyone in the office staring. They must have been at full attention because Damon was here but when Damon turned his head to confront every person, their head whirred back to their computer screens.

Ushering me to his office, Damon laid his hand on the small of my back and kept a firm grip knowing I would try to push it off.

Clearing my throat, I tried to think of something to say, anything but I couldn't so I sat in front of his desk reading aloud from the tablet.

"Anna-"

"It's Miss.Delaney," I shouted out quickly, raising my head as my body tensed.

"Don't do this-"
