ANNA DELANEY

When waking up, there is a brief moment of confusion when you forget all about your problems and issues. However, two seconds later everything hits you like a wrecking ball. Groggily waking up, I stretched my sore limbs across the comfy mattress when my own realization set in.

Holy shit.

I fucked my boss last night. I hold no regret for my actions last night but... I could improve on my self-control. Either way, this didn't change the fact that we both hated each other's guts and it didn't change the promise we made to ourselves. We had to lock away our heart or else we would only break each other.

Looking around the room, I realized Damon wasn't here like last time. At least he spared me the humiliation of my morning after walk which consisted of the clothes from the night before and messy hair all while fighting off the soreness in between my legs.

Trying to avoid Damon, not knowing if he was in the penthouse or not, I cautiously tiptoed around the house finding the elevator. Truth be told, I wasn't avoiding Damon because I lost my virginity to him last night but it was because I didn't want to discuss the blackmailing, fake dating, contract, and all the other shit we have going on. Why not procrastinate those discussions until a later date?

"Miss. Delaney, so nice to see you again. Breakfast is waiting for you in the kitchen," Sarah smiled after I pushed the elevator button.

"You can call me Anna, please. And that is so very kind of you but I've got to get going. Thank you though."

"But... but Mr.King specifically asked that I made you breakfast," she said shockingly. Sensing my confusion, she decided to elaborate, "He doesn't... he's not that very hospitable to his guests. Only you Anna," she smiled nervously.

"Of course he isn't," I muttered to myself as Sarah tried to hold back a laugh. Stepping onto the elevator, I chose the floor, "Thank you for making me breakfast Sarah. Maybe I could treat you out to brunch one day," I said trying to make up for wasting her time.

"Oh- oh you don't have to."

"I want to," I smiled at her as the elevator doors shut allowing me a brief moment to be a mess by myself. Checking my phone for the time, a text message appeared on my home screen from an unknown number.

Unknown Number:

Not everything is as it seems.

I absolutely hate prank phone calls but at least those people had the guts to do the pranking in the moment while texting allowed for cowards to hide behind their screen. Okay. Maybe I'm being a little over dramatic but the text I received was creepy.
