ANNA DELANEY

"I hate you guys" I yelled over the loud music at "Sapphire" as I downed two vodka shots in one go because of a stupid dare.

"Ugh- I can't believe I let you guys drag me out here tonight. How am I going to go to work tomorrow?" Nat asked.

"Well well well... how the turntables have turned," I remarked realizing that didn't sound right. "Oh! Michael Scott once said that... maybe?" I slurred as I picked up another vodka shot.

"Yeah, you're cut off for the night," Nat said, being responsible for once as she took the shot glass away from me.

"What? No, why?" I complained in a whiny voice.

"You'll thank me in the morning," she remarked.

"You're right. I probably will thank you in the morning... but not now," I remarked in a sassy manner.

"Remind me why we got her drunk again?" Nat mumbed to Sean thinking I couldn't hear.

"We thought she would've been fun, not sassy."

"You guys are really bad at being secretive. You have to work on that. And I'm going to go get some fresh air," I said as I hazily weaved through the crowd and managed to find my way outside. It was refreshing to step out and breath fresh air as opposed to the clammy atmosphere of the club. Plus, it totally sobered me up. I was still buzzed and tipsy but it was better than blacking out from drinking too much.

As I leaned against the wall of the club hearing the buzzing of the music, I let my mind wander to topics that I had tried avoiding all night. I wondered where he was, what he was doing at this exact moment, wondering if he was thinking about me as much as I think about him. Nat had invited him tonight but I don't know why I was expecting him to show up. Whatever I saw in him that night at the charity event was gone. He was back to the ruthless CEO billionaire persona.

"What are you doing out here?" a deep voice startled me as I opened my eyes to find Damon in front of me.

"Gah- fuck. You scared me," I breathed out in relief. His brows drew up into a v-shape as he leaned against the wall next to me. "I just came out here to get a breath of fresh air."

Looking up at the stars, he looked almost angelic, at peace. That is until he opened his mouth with a hint of a smirk plastered on his face, "Let me guess, because you had too much to drink?"

"Pfft. No... maybe... yes," I couldn't lie while still buzzed, it took a lot of hard work and I did not have the energy.

"It's refreshing for you to prove me right all the time."

"You know what? Fuck you Damon. I'm not in the mood," I said as I took a step forward with the full intention of walking away. Before I could get another step out, his hand gripped my forearm pulling me into his chest.
