Sitting across from him, I watch as he eats his food. He chose to get an actual lunch why I opted for just a water.
"Are you not hungry?" He asks.
"Actually no. I had already eaten an early lunch, and was walking back to my room when we accidentally ran into each other."
"You know an early lunch is just brunch right?"
This was a topic I could have fun with. "It is!?" I look at him with the most shocked face I am able to manage. "I've never heard anyone call it brunch before. I've heard it be called late breakfast, but never brunch."
"You've never heard of brunch before?" He was actually taking me seriously. He starts to say something else, but before he can I interject.
"Wow, you're really gullible." I start to laugh, and he soon joins in.
"Okay, I'm glad you at least know basic meals. I was a little worried there."
"Is brunch really a basic meal? I thought those were breakfast, lunch, and dinner?" I stare at him, and can see the gears in his head moving as he thinks of something to counter. After what seems like forever, he finally responds.
"Actually the basic meals are breakfast, bruch, lunch, dinner, supper. Although most people just chose to skip certain meals." By the look he gives me, I can tell easily that he is satisfied, and very proud of this answer.
I tell myself I shouldn't ruin this, and I will feel bad if I do, but the truth is I won't. I don't know what this tiny section of me this boy just unlocked is, but he unlocked it. I've always cared about hurting others feelings, so why don't I care now. I know by ruining this I will shatter some of his pride, although this excites me. It shouldn't but it does. This is the first time I've ever really talked to this boy, and he's already opened something my Master told me to bury. The pleasure of ruining this for him will be the end of me. I can't let this darkness overtake me. Oh, the difference between me and a Sith. This is probably like stealing candy from a baby to them, and here I am starting a court case for myself, over the tiniest dark deed. And then I ruin it. Destroying all of his pride about the order of meals.
"Aren't dinner and supper the same meal, just different words?"
If looks could kill, I currently will be on the floor dead. His face has a look of pure shock. It's so blatantly clear he's never had anyone dare question his arguments. Although this makes sense. Master Kenobi has never been one for arguments.
If there ever was a picture perfect Jedi, he would be it. On the outside he displays every quality a Jedi should have. He has a dedicated mind, always listening to whatever the Council tells him. He never turns toward aggression; always staying on the peaceful side of life. He only shows an appropriate amount of attachment, strictly towards his padawan. He never asks questions, nothing. He's straight from the textbooks, on the outside. On the inside though, he's full of secrets. I know he's broken more rules than anyone would ever think. Nobody ever suspects him, and only two know the real him.
Anakin finally seems able to speak something that is taken absentmindedly due to my mind thinking of Obi. "(Y/N), did you hear me?"
"What? Oh sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
"It's fine. I was actually agreeing with you. I said,'I suppose they technically are but-'"
"So that would make the basic order of meals, according to Anakin Skywalker, breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner also known as supper." I take pleasure from interrupting him.
He gives me a somber look and sighs in defeat. "Yeah, but you didn't have to drain all the fun from the conversation."
"What can I say, I learned from the best. Have you ever tried to have a fun conversation with my Master? He specializes in shutting down all things fun." I give a slight chuckle at my remark. It wasn't even a lie. Master Windu just has a habit of killing conversations when he doesn't like the direction they're heading.
"I think it's a Master thing. Master Kenobi always dismisses my conversations if they come even an inch too close to being controversial."
"I don't know, I hear Master Plo is actually fun, and allows conversations to happen." We share a laugh before I continue. "Besides, our Masters are just trying to help us become the best Jedi we can." I looked at him, and what I said seemed to anger him.
"Maybe for your Master, but Master Kenobi is only trying to slow me down. He refuses to take me seriously, and he never trusts me!" He snapped, and his words caused anger in me to rise.
"Master Kenobi Is a very good, experienced Master. If he feels that you should move slower than the pace you prefer, he's probably right. He won't take you seriously if you act like a child all the time. Think about that. As for the trust, that's not a right. Trust is not handed to you on a silver platter, it is worked for and earned!" I knew I let my emotions get the best of me, but I couldn't help it. I felt ashamed from it, and made a mental note to go meditate later. "Now excuse me, but I think I'll go wait for my Master in the training room." I quickly stood up, grabbing my empty water bottle.
"Wait, we never talked about where your mind was at when you ran into me!"
"Maybe you should have thought of that before disrespecting Master Kenobi to such an extreme extent." I exited the room, leaving him to think about what I had told him.
