Only the sun knew

The sun became hotter as he beamed brightly down onto my skin, instantly warming it up to the touch. I should've brought water. It felt as if I had been walking through the woods for hours although in reality, it had just been minutes. An airplane from above the area of the woods zoomed over, leaving it's trace in the blue sky. Wiping the sweat beads that trickled across my forehead, I refocused on the path ahead of me.

I stumbled upon a door with a light, the same door Amber and I had found that night. As I attempted to enter, I swiftly ducked behind a nearby tree as the door swung opened.
"Get her!" A hoarse voice yelled out. Hearing a thump by me, I looked to be met with Amber. She had her face against the dirty ground as her eyes watched me, a tear strolling down her cheeks. She slowly met her finger to her lips, as to stay quiet. Two men dressed in all black, hiding their face with masks, dressed her wrists with handcuffs before pulling her off of the ground. She winced as they did so and I finally looked back to see if I could recognize anybody else. There, stood a man by the door. He wore round glasses with dark hair along with strips of grey peeking through. Skinny, however older as well. I picked up a lanky but very long stick nearby, and slowly brushed it through the long grass. SNAP! As I went to pull the stick back, it had lost half of it's body to a bear trap that was hidden away. I slowly walked safely towards the door and as my hand hovered over the metal door knob, loud and wailing sirens were heard from behind me on the road. My eyes watched the cops drive to Elouise's house. My heart dropped. Not sure what I should do, my eyes looked at the door before looking behind me. Elouise is a friend, but so are the missing persons. So is West and Amber.
"I'm sorry. I'll come back." I whispered aloud to myself before sprinting back out of the woods. My heart thumped to the sound of my feet that continued pounding against the thick grass.

The police were surrounding the front door as they talked to one another. My eyebrows furrowed together before entering, pushing past the cops. As they attempted to pull me back, I fought back.
"Where is she? Elouise!" I yelled throughout the house. Suddenly medics rushed out of her bedroom, blocking me from entering the scene any further.
"I'm sorry sir, you're going to have to leave." The medics holds his hands up to keep me away.
"No, I need to speak to her!" I argued back. As I moved sideways, he did the same.
"I'm afraid you're not able to do that at the moment." He replies calmly. Without knowing my own strength, I pushed him to the side as he stumbled. I entered her bedroom to see her laying on her bed. Blood on her stomach, dripped onto her white, lace bedding. Red stained onto her lips and down onto her cheeks. Her eyes widened permanently, never closing again. I run up to her body and shook her, before I began bawling.
"Elouise, get up!" I screamed. Tears burning from my eyes. Heavy footsteps rushing into the bedroom before pulling me away from her. As I flayed around in their tightened grips, my eyes stayed glued to her. As the bawling stopped, I felt emotionless. My eyes spaced out as my mind came along. My feet dragged along with the police as they helped me out of the house. As we walked out of the house, I noticed my group of friends standing off into the distance, staring at the horrific scene. Kat, James and Jerrick. Once they caught sight of me, their eyes widened. All, except James's. His eyes stared me down, to the point where he stared with his eyes squinted.
"We'll drive you home." The policeman said before helping me into the backseat of the car. I sat in the middle, staring into a void. My finger shook violently. Replaying the scene in my mind over and over again. How could she have been dead? Who would've done this? Who? Why? How? I asked myself the same questions in my mind, over and over again until I began saying them out loud.
"Why? Who? How?" I mumbled aloud, quietly to myself over again. The cop in the passenger seat glanced back at me with a raised eyebrow.
"This poor boy is already traumatized for life." He speaks to the other cop. However, the cop driving stayed silent. I continued with my rambling aloud as well in my head.

Once they had dropped me off at the end of my driveway and drove off down the road, I darted toward the woods once again. For Elouise. For Scott. For amber. For West and many more people. I'll find you and I won't stop. As the sun began setting, it's red dimmed light went over my body, saying it's goodnight and good luck to me. Only the sun knew.

I sat on the set of stairs in front of the door. Thinking to myself and out loud. My eyes looked all around me to only be met with the darkness that hugged the trees.
"I'm ready to find you." I said aloud. Finally, I stood and went to open the door, only to find it was locked. Sealed.
A twig snapped from nearby as I jerked my head around. A tall figure slowly came out from the void, revealing it's tall figure.
"You're not going to find them." He spoke, lowly.
"Who do you think you are?" I spat at the hidden figure. He chuckled as I flicked a switch before a bright light beamed onto his face. My eyes widened at the reveal. Perhaps I was just seeing things. The trauma has gotten to me. Or has it?
"No. That can't be you. You're not like this." I breathed.
He smirked, "I am now."
