RINCON (Orphanage)
Evelyn's POV:
"I really missed you, Evelyn. We all missed you..." Ried said emotionally and came forward but I cowered back, "please... please Ried, let me go!" I backed a few baby steps hoping he would have mercy on me.
Ried's expressions were turning impatient, "Ev, I am your brother! Why won't you come with me? And Zane and father are waiting eagerly for you. Please come home and we can forget whatever happened, I promise."
I folded my hands and shook my head in no hoping Ried would let me go. I felt safest around him when I was at home. Maybe he would have mercy on me. Maybe he was a changed person in the last two years and not what I had seen, what I had endured all my life.
"Girl, I don't know why you are scared of your own brother! Looks fucking bizarre to me!" my molester lying on the ground spoke and then he turned to Ried, "probably he is crazier even than us. Dude, why don't you send this girl with us tonight and we can set her up to a better mood, you know what we mean?" The men said and started laughing crookedly.
I looked at the men in utter shock, not in disgust, but horror, and I stepped a foot forward towards Ried, "Ried, I am ready to go with you, but please... let's go peacefully."
But Ried's expression remained unreadable until he instantly took out his gun and fired two shots. I closed my eyes and covered my ears as hard as possible. Somewhere I wished all these were just my dream but I knew it was not and I got hugged by Ried, "it's over, Ev. They didn't deserve to live and you must look at what needs to be done to pigs like them. Open your eyes, I said open!"
And I opened my eyes only to see the men lying lifeless covered in blood and they were shot right on their eyes. Their faces had were drastically destroyed with eyes mutilated with bullet shots. I ran to the roadside and started retching in disgust but nothing came out. I remembered not having food the entire day.
"Stop it now," I heard Ried as he pulled me up and dragged me to his Jaguar. But I resisted as much as I could, "let me go, Ried. I promise I will never trouble you again or even show my face. I don't wanna return."
But the next moment, Ried pointed the gun on my forehead, "I am already mad, Ev. Don't make me do things I will regret later."
My eyes were widened when the cold metal of the gun touched my skin and I was pushed inside the car. Ried entered the car and so did his men. The car started moving, leaving my safe place, my home, my guard for the last two years and I couldn't even bid goodbye to the friends I made. Ried tried to talk to me but I refused and turned towards the window and looked at the open sky and tall trees, experiencing my last moments of freedom. It was one of my longest car rides.
SEDONA (Derrick's place)
Evelyn's POV:
-'Evi, you cannot just sit on a corner doing nothing on your birthday....'
' Ethan, shhh! You know, no one's supposed to know my real name here in the orphanage, and my real birthday! You know everything, Ethan!'
'And still, I am taking this small risk. You can be Vena to the entire world but you will always be Evi for me. Now here is a banana cake for you... I know your favorite is apple pie but I also know that you love banana cakes.... Now make a wish!'
'But where is my birthday candle?'
'I said I can take only small risks, not big ones! People will know.... (he whispered).'
I giggled at that.
'Now make a wish!'
'I wish I never have to go back.'
