I was feeling blissed again even decided to forgive Daniel and settle up things with Ray when I saw John stormed inside my room, "Ria, I went to your maths teacher to talk about Violet's sister study plan and I got to know you never attended his extra classes from 4-6 pm as you told us. What have you been doing all this while?"

John's sudden question made me speechless as all the eyes in the room glared at me.

Sedona -

I saw him turn and leave the room when I called out to him, "Dad... Libby told me that.... that lady... she was my mother. Where is mother now, dad? Please tell me. What happened to her that day?"

I eagerly waited for him to respond as he turned towards me and said, "She was shot."
Uttering those words, he left the room and I fell on my knees in disbelief.

Evelyn's POV:

"She was shot... She was shot... She was shot..." I don't know how long I had been whispering those three letters... but I kept whispering.

'I have nothing left to go back there, Ethan... ever!'

'Don't say that, Evi... I know how your father and brothers are. But you have your mother. You can meet her, you can know her.'

"Evelyn?"

'Ethan, that woman abandoned me at my birth and fled away with my father's trusted friend, uncle Sam!'

"Evelyn, open your eyes! Talk to me!"

'I know it's the most hurtful thing for a child. But you know how much she suffered at the hands of her own blood! Her brothers hit her and she lost her first child! Her brothers even chopped off her finger because she tried to contact them! Evi, you have to be patient and not make harsh judgments about her until you meet her.'

"Eve, can you hear me?"

'Ethan... meeting her would mean for me to go back to that house, the hell.'

'And I will be there to protect you, Evelyn.'

"Bolt, Sam... her pulse is decreasing!"

'You promise?'

'I promise, Evi.'

"Ried, call the doctor, now!"

"Evelyn... Evelyn... you were panicking in your sleep. Did you see a bad dream?" A kind voice woke me up, but when I realized it was Zane, I abruptly got up and rushed to drag myself away.

But something sharp almost tore away my vein in my hand and suddenly Zane grabbed my hand tight and pulled me back, "are you insane, Evelyn?"

"Zane, please don't hurt me..." I pleaded., curling into a ball.

"Eve, I am not hurting you, but YOU ARE! You are put to saline through the needle and so stop moving!" Zane shouted out loud, bringing Libby and a girl I had never seen before.

"Zane, please send Bolt or Sam. Please..." I begged again, still twitching my hand grabbed by Zane.

"For God's sake, Evelyn, don't move!" Zane yelled at me.
