BEAUFORT: RIA's POV
Dad's reaction turned from puzzled to fear and transitioned to anger, "why should I sit? What do you mean by that? Is my son...?"
-"I am sorry, but-"
"Oh God, no!" even mom had tears flowing off at that moment and my remaining strength started to slip as her knees could not support her and Daniel rushed to help her sit on a nearby chair.
Every one of us were filled with tears and sorrow as the senior nurse came out of the operation room with a smile, and then she looked puzzled, "What the- Dr. Heckle, what did you say to them? I hope you remember what we explained you last time."
Andy and I looked at each other with a hint of hope as the doctor fumbled, "Oh yes, I was just saying that we have to keep Jack in hospital for some more time and they should-"
The nurse shook her head in annoyance and stepped towards mom and dad, "Sir, mam, your son, Jack is out of danger now. The surgery was successful. Please excuse our doctor, he is a very talented, young surgeon, but he still needs to sharpen his communication skills."
"Oh thank God, thank you, God!" we all cheered and mom quickly hugged the nurse, bringing smiles on our faces. But my heart truly melted when Andy hugged me tightly as he sobbed on my shoulder, "He is alive, Ria. Our elder brother is fine now!"
The doctor spoke again, "Mr. Harry, I am sorry to baffle you. The surgery was successful for Jack and he is out of danger. But he is very, very weak now and we have to pray that he recovers soon. He needs to be under observation for atleast 15 days more, and even after that he needs to be under care."
"Doctor," the nurse again stopped him, "let me handle this. Mr. Wilson, we are so relieved that Jack is out of danger now. We will keep him for minimum a week to see his progress, and I am sure he will be fit and fine within 2 months."
"Can we meet him, mam?" dad asked impatiently.
-"Yes. Although, you can just see him for now. He is on sedatives, so I will allow only 3-4 people now. Rest of you can see him in the evening."
Alex was the first one to respond, "Mom, dad, John and Joe. You can see him. We can meet him later."
I half-heartedly nodded along with others. Even though I wanted to see my brother, he won't be wishing to see me for sure if he was awake. After all, he was attacked because I refuse to leave with him.
"By the way..." the nurse stopped and turned towards us, "he uttered a name quiet number of time... umm I think it was-"
-"Ria?" It was Daniel to suggest, and the nurse nodded, "yes. Ria. Must be a very important person for Jack."
I got a fresh set of tears, and for a change it showed how happy as well as overwhelmed I felt.
John walked to me patting my head, "I can check on Jack later, why don't you have a check on Jack first, lil Ree. In the meantime, I will check if the guest house rooms are ready for the Wilsons from Sedona. Logan should reach here with them in 3-4 hours."
"Guesthouse? What do you mean by that?" mom asked.
John answered, "Umm, mom, we Zane, Ried and their sister in Beaufort for us, and we have to arrange for their accommodation for next several months. Guesthouse is the temporary arrangement."
Mom turned to dad, "Honey, can't we have those children in our home? I mean, that little girl is of Joe's age, and they are leaving their home, their parents to help Logan. I think-"
-"I think you make sense, dear. John, ask Logan to drive straight to our home."
"But dad, we don't have any extra room. How can-" Alex called out when I had the same question in my mind.
