This is a recipe I discovered while looking through a box of my great-grandmother's old recipes with my grandma. Although this recipe makes 12 pans of delicious brownies as written, you can always size it down to whatever amount you need for your given occasion. Whatever you end up doing, these brownies, when baked correctly, make for a wonderfully rich bite and will help you make friends easily (I know this from experience). When I head off to college this Fall (if COVID-19 has passed and we are back to semi-normalcy by August), I plan on making a huge batch of these and handing them out to people during Freshman Week. :)
The recipe is as follows:
6 C Flour
8 C Granulated Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Baking Powder
2 Tablespoons Salt
3 C Unsweetened Hershey's Cocoa Powder
2 C Shortening
Mix together all of the ingredients until fully combined and a sticky dough forms. Spread evenly into baking pans. Bake each pan for 28 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. They should be slightly gooey in the middle, which is fine. They will cook a little bit in the pan once they've been removed from the oven. :)
Let me know how this recipe turns out for you in the comments! Sending y'all much love and good thoughts this New Year! :)
