These cookies I make all the time for family and friends! Crunchy on the outside, sweet and soft in the center with lots of chocolate (if you don't like chocolate, this recipe is not for you). Of all the things I bake, this has to be the recipe where I realized I really loved baking. I saw the smiles these chocolatey bad-boys brought to people's faces and knew that this was a. something I was good at and b. something I loved doing that could make other people's days brighter!
Below is the recipe for Ultimate Double Chocolate Crinkle Cookies:
1 C All-Purpose Flour
1/2 C Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 TSP Baking Soda
1/8 TSP Salt
1/2 C Unsalted Butter (1 Stick)
1/2 C Granulated Sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 TSP Vanilla
1 C Chocolate Morsels (or you can substitue for nuts if you want a healthier batch!)
(For coating)
1/4 C Granulated Sugar
1/4 C + of Powdered Sugar
How to Bake------>
Step One: Whisk all of the dry ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl.
Step Two: In the bottom of a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until soft and fully combined. Once combined, add egg and vanilla. Continue mixing until fully incorporated.
Step Three: Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix together on the lowest speed on your mixer. The dough will be thick.
Step Four: Fold in the chocolate chips (or healthy substitute) with a wooden spoon/spatula until fully incorporated.
Here comes the fun part.
Step Five: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Fill two bowls, one with powdered sugar and the other with granulated sugar.
Step Six: Roll balls of dough, about 1.5 rounded tablespoons big. Once balled up, roll the dough in the granulated sugar until fully covered. Then, roll in the powdered sugar until fully coated. Place on the cookie sheet 1-2 inches apart.
Step Seven: Bake cookies for 8-12 minutes. Don't worry if they split at the top! That's what they're supposed to look like. :)
Step Eight: Enjoy eating your decadent chocolate sweets! And clean up all that powdered sugar. Seriously, that stuff gets EVERYWHERE!
