When we arrived in the Relapse section of the hospital, we saw nothing but darkness, and wondered if this was a cruel trick. But not a second later, the lights were on and every one of my doctors and nurses had jumped out from under a table and was yelling "surprise!!!!". Me and my mom were so confused, it took us ten minutes to understand what was going on. As it turns out, I was now officially cancer free, and they had set up this elaborate party with games and cake and punch.
After the party was over and it was getting late, my mom told me to wait in the hall with one of the nurses while she talked to my main doctor. When she came back out about 5 minutes later she had a thick packet of papers to be filled out. I asked her what they were for and she tried to explain to me that now that I was cancer-free, I was going to have to start physical therapy to get stronger, for the chemo had made me very weak. She said that in a month or so my life would be back to the way it was-before cancer ruined my life, but frankly, I couldn't remember a time before cancer.
