The First Letter

The first letter arrived two days later. It fell out of her backpack as she was unpacking for school. Though she had not noticed it there that morning, it had somehow managed to make it inside the main pocket.

She put it back inside a safe pocket where no one would find it, and continued unpacking.

Then she walked to her T.A. room from her locker- number 863.

As she walked into T.A., she noticed there was a student had transferred into her T.A.

It was none other than Jordan Kelly.

As soon as Chloe walked in, Jordan recognized Chloe immediately, and ran up to her.

"How is it going" says Jordan

"Fine, but I really don't want to talk..."

"You aren't even wondering why I'm in your T.A. now?"

"Maybe a little..."

"Great, sit down, I'll tell you all about it"

As they sat Jordan was already starting to ramble on. She basically said that since Alexa was gone now, and her T.A. was overflowing she transferred here for the time being.

When she was done rambling, she started asking weird things about Alexa. She asked where she lived her phone numbers, her schedule, and she even asked me what I knew about the Alexa's case. I replied to her that I knew nothing, which wasn't entirely true-she knew about the letter.

After T.A. was over Chloe resumed her day as usual- Advanced Math, Biology, Physics, lunch (her favorite subject), then art, A.P. History, and health.

When the day was finally over, Chloe got on the bus as usual, waited for her stop then got off.

As soon as she got home, her mother greeted her, and Chloe said hi. Her mother also asked her how her day was but Chloe blew her off- she was too busy running to her room, anxious to open the letter.

The letter was addressed to Chloe, written in cursive with the same flawless pen damn ship as the last letter.

The letter was already half opened by the time she got to her bedroom.

In the enclosed envelope read:

Dear Ms. Johnson,
As you know your friend is missing, and she will remain missing until you have completed the tasks I have asked of you. If you tell anyone about the letters, including law enforcement, family members, or friends, Alexa will be killed.
Anyway, your first task is to steal Mrs. Jensen's (your biology teacher) gold wristwatch.
After you have completed this task, I want you to place the wristwatch under the mat on your front porch and leave it. I will send someone in my place to pick it up for me.

Sincerely, anonymous

Chloe thought about it, then realized she had no choice, but to do it.

The next day she took it, brought it home and hid it under her mat on her porch right away.

That night on while she was watching TV she heard a rustle in the bushes on the front porch. About 15 seconds later, the rustling was gone, and walking down the sidewalk was Jordan Kelly.

The next news story was a report on a run-away child. They said this child had left a note saying the had "business to take care of, and didn't know when they'd be back". They were an eleven year old and they stated she had left the house around 5:30. Chloe peered at the clock; 5:45.

Then they announced her name: Jordan Kelly.

Chloe knew Jordan was involved in Alexa's kidnapping, and she was determined to find out how.
