The next day Kathleen was still miraculously alive. Jennifer was with her the whole night.
The rest of the day was spent with Jennifer listening to the machines in Kathleen's room beep endlessly, and watching the nurses come in and out of the room, checking on her vital signs.
Around lunch time, Jennifer left the room, and headed for the hospital's cafeteria. She wasn't really in the mood to eat, but she knew she had to. She ordered a cheeseburger, with a side order of fries. She scarfed it all down in 5 minutes. She hadn't actually realized how hungry she was.
After finishing her meal, she headed back to Kathleen's room. As usual, all of Kathleen's vital signs had stayed the same.

"Nurse, nurse!!! She's awake!!!"
