Back at home, the town was devastated. They had just lost Alexa 1 month ago, and had yet to find 1 clue. Now on September 28, at 6:47 P.M (exactly 1 day after she went missing), Chloe was officially reported missing.
Everyone was already a wreck mourning Alexa's disappearance, but now two?
Not knowing what to do, Chloe's and Alexa's parents got together and put together a relay for life to help get funding to be used to help find the girls.
They titled the rally: "BRING BACK OUR GIRLS"
(N/A: I took that idea from the kidnappings in Nigeria)
The rally was set to be held on October 21-at the local high school-from 4:30-10 P.M.
*October 20*
"Oh my gosh! We are so behind! There's no way we will be able to finish all this in time!" Says Chloe's mom to Alexa's mom.
"I know! We still have to finish making the puppy chow, setting up the decorations, pick up the hot dogs, hamburgers, and cheeseburgers, (and the buns) book the band, and the smoothie cart, and finish making posters to advertise giving donations. It was already 6:12 P.M., and if they wanted to finish it by tomorrow, they were going to have to work pretty fast.
By 8:30, the only things they had left to do was finish making posters, book the smoothie cart, and go up to the high school to decorate.
Alexa's mom-Jennifer-decided that she could handle booking the smoothie cart on her own, so that Chloe's mom-Kathleen-could start making her way towards. The high school to start making posters to hang up.
By the time Jennifer had finished her announcement, Kathleen had managed to make it halfway out the door.
When Kathleen arrived at the high school, she went to the art supplies closet and grabbed what seemed like 50 posters, and all of the supplies she thought she would need.
Right away, she started to get to work, drawing elaborate, yet simple designs to attract people to look at the signs. She also drew things such as money signs and tip jars on the posters. On some of them she even wrote out corny puns.
As soon as she was finished she payed them all put so she could see them. Then she stepped back to admire her work.
"Not to bad" she thought to herself
Just as Kathleen was admiring her work, Jennifer stepped in the room, and announced her arrival.
"What can I do to help? Did you get started on the posters" says Jennifer.
"I actually already finished the posters, but you can help me hang them up. Did you get the smoothie cart booked?"
"Yep! Now hand me some posters!"
"K, here you go"
They then began hanging the posters at random all around the gym. As soon as they finished, they began decorating, putting up streamers, table cloths, banners saying "BRING BACK OUR GIRLS". But Kathleen, and Jennifer's favorite, was the disco ball.
"Finally" they both thought as they finished up decorating.Everything was perfect, and now they were ready for the relay.
