They had never even been able to make it to the station, and the worst part was-this may have been their only shot at finding Alexa and Chloe.
They were on a countryside road with no one else. Then, out of nowhere came the car. At first, it followed their path, going at a normal speed, but then it got faster... And faster... And faster, until it almost rear ended them.
They almost made it out of the countryside...they only had 3 miles to go
The car smashed into their vehicle so hard that Kathleen flew out of the front windshield, and the private detective was killed on impact. Jennifer, in the back seat, broke both arms, and one of her legs, with a possible concussion, but other than that seemed to be fine.
Jennifer turned around and looked through the back windshield-the car was gone. Go figure.
But Jennifer knew she didn't have time to worry about that. She couldn't do anything to help the detective-he was already dead, so instead she mustered all of her energy, and got out of the smashed car, and started hobbling towards Kathleen on her non-broken leg.
She got only two steps, before deciding to get her cell phone and call 911, then to attend to Kathleen.
After she had hung up, she hobbled back over to Kathleen, and saw that she was unconscious, with a pool of blood around her. Jennifer decided that she wouldn't touch her, in fear that she would only worsen her injuries. Instead she only hoped that the ambulance would arrive soon.
*******
4 minutes later the ambulance arrived. They took care of Kathleen and loaded her into the am petulance so fast that Jennifer couldn't even comprehend what was going on.She finally just hopped in the ambulance with some assistance, where a single EMT put temporary casts on her arms, and one on her leg.
When they arrived in the hospital, they told Jennifer to get her permanent casts on, and then stay in the waiting room.
About half an hour later Jennifer was back in the waiting room.
After what seemed like forever she got the news.
Kathleen had:
1 broken arm
2 broken legs
Minor fracture of the skull
A Bad Concussion
Internal bleeding in the intestines and the brain
Ruptured appendix,
And the worst of all...She was in a coma, and not expected to live through the night.
