Part 51: A Hundred Questions

12 6 3

You promised us a forever,
But left just a week after we got together.
You promised us a future
But left the just the day after.
What was it all for?
Honey, you taught me to love,
But where did it all go wrong?
Who did I even love?
Was it you or just your presence?
A hundred questions wrecking my head now,
If I want answers, will you allow?
Or will you leave me, existing somehow?

You're probably with that brunette girl,
Drinking in a club,
Teaching her to drive,
Just the way you taught me.
And I'm here,
In the library,
Reading you between Keats' poetries,
Picturing you laying on the couch
With a book in hand and glasses hanging low.
I reach out to hold you-
But it's just your fragrance embracing every inch of me,
Pulling me towards you,
To push me away again.

You said you'll watch me drive for the first time,
Now I drive past your home everyday,
Do you ever try to seek a glance?
Or are you always too engaged with your new girl?
You said we'll go on road trips,
Now I picture you beside me,
Holding my hand,
Changing the FM a million times
Until you sing to me yourself.
How do I tell you how much I miss you?
Or do I just miss your presence?

I saw you kiss a girl yesterday,
I wished it was me
But it could no more be.
How're you so okay without me?
I guess, the song you wrote for me,
You didn't mean any of it.
I guess, the promises you made
Were just for the moment.
I guess, the love potion I had drunk
Lasted just for a week.
But how do I tell you I miss you?
How do I tell you, I still love you?
How do I live in your absence?
By forever, did you mean just a week?
A hundred questions wrecking my head now,
If I want answers, will you allow?
Or will you just leave me, existing somehow?
Darling, I still love you
But you've got someone new,
And darling, I still love you

~Ash.

I guess, I'm just listening to too many songs these days. I got the inspiration to write this after listening to Drivers license by the legend, Olivia Redrigo.
