Chapter 9

I wake up my head pounding and not able to move. I try to shift when I feel a heavy weight tighten around my midsection. I freeze and my eyes spring open. I look around the room that I realize is not my room.

Where am I?

I look down and to my utter relief I'm fully clothed. I turn around carefully not wanting to wake up whoever is next to me. I sigh when I realize it's Cole. I frown wondering how we got in this position. That's when last nights events come rushing back to me.

Tears well up in my eyes but I push them away quickly. I do not want to start crying here in Cole's arms. I carefully slip out of his arms without waking him. I go back to my room and take a quick shower and get dressed.

As soon as I come out of my bathroom and into my room I scream, "Cole what the hell are you doing in my room?!"

Cole seems unfazed by the fact that he nearly gave me a heart attack. "No need to be dramatic. I came to see if you were okay."

My heart warms at the thought that he was worried about me. "I'm fine" I tell him short and snappy.

Cole takes the hint and stands up from my bed and heads to the door. Before he walks out he turns and looks at me as if he's going to say something, but he thinks better of it. He shuts my door leaving me in silence and my own thoughts about last night.

It's the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday and I have nothing to do. My phone rings on my bedside table and I frown at it. Who would be contacting me? I pick up my phone to find a message from Tori.

Tori: Hey! Get ready me and Natalie are on our way to get you. :)

I frown at the text. That day at lunch Tori, Natalie, and I all bonded as if we were great friends. I hadn't seen them at the party or since Friday after school. I smile realizing I have something to do for once on a weekend. I text back after a few minutes.

Kat: I'll be waiting out front! :)

I quickly jump off my bed and grab a tank top and some jean shorts before slipping them on. I throw my hair up in a quick bun, I walk over grab my house keys, phone, and wallet before walking downstairs. There I run into The little ones Cameron and Chance watching TV.

Cameron turns to me and smiles, "Where are you going?" He jumps up and runs over to me attacking my leg.

 Chance jumps up and attacks the other free leg. "No! You can't leave. I just got you as a sister"

I smile down at the two amazing little boys that are holding onto me like their life depends on it. "I'm going out with friends. I'll be back in a little bit" Cameron seems to be satisfied as he releases my leg and walks back into the living room. Chance is more persisted and doesn't seem convinced. I lean down and whisper in his ear, "I'll bring you back something if you let me go and not tell your other brothers where I went."

Chance smiles up at me with excitement in his eyes and nods eagerly. He runs back into the living room and I walk out the door. I find the girls waiting for me so I slip into the back finding two girls staring wide eyed and mouths wide open at me. I look at them confused, "What?"

The shouting started instantly and my head starts pounding from the headache I had earlier.I shout at them to get them to shut up and tell them one at a time. Tori instantly speaks up, "You live with the Parker Boys?!"

 I freeze, I completely forgot about the fact they didn't know about that. I slowly nod, they apparently see the look in my eyes because they stopped right there and no more questions were asked. "Where are we going?" I finally ask when I notice we are heading out of town.

Natalie looks back at me with a smile, "A few towns over there's this amazing mall"

 I smile at her. This is the most I've really heard her talk."What are we going to the mall for?"

Tori looks in the rear view mirror like I've grown a second head. "We are getting dresses for the school dance that's next week!"

I stare at her confused, "There's a school dance next week?"

This time both Natalie and Tori give me a 'What the fuck' look, but it's Tori who speaks, "Yeah! How do you not know? There's posters all over the school about it. I'm surprised one of the Parker's haven't asked you yet."

This time I am the one to stare at them like they both grew an extra head, "Why would they do that?"

Tori this time stays silent. Natalie looks at me and laughs, "You are so clueless" After that everyone stayed silent.

Once at the mall all of us spend hours searching for the perfect dress. I don't even know why I have to get a dress, I don't even know if I'm going or not.

I walk out in my final dress that they have chosen for me. I instantly hear squeals and I open my eyes.

 Tori jumps up, "It's perfect!"

At the same time Natalie shouts, "That's the one!"

I turn around and stare at the full length mirror and gasp. I'm standing in a black floor length one shoulder dress. It fits my top area and is snug to my hips and flares out at the bottom. There's a diamond like pattern that travels from my left shoulder down to my waist where it spreads out to the bottom.

I tear my eyes away from the mirror and smile at the girls. "Okay, I'll go"

After we pay for our dresses we head back home. I walk up the steps into the door to find four very angry Parker brothers. I simply walked past them with my bags and up to my room. Chance runs into the room right as I set down my bag in my closet. "Hey little man" I pick him up "Are you ready for your gift?"

 He nods eagerly and I hand him a G.I. Joe that I picked up at the mall. He runs off laughing, little kids are so easy to please. I put the dress at the back of my closet and head downstairs.

I look up to find the boys still looking down on me, "What?" I snap.

Cody steps forward, "Where did you go?"

"Why does it matter?"

Conner speaks up, "You've been gone for hours."

"Yeah, I was aware"

Caden stares at me being silent. Cole seems to have plently to say, "We were worried about you. Why didn't you tell us you were going out. you could have said something."

"I did"

"To who?"

"Chance"

"He's six!"

"Yeah and? I told someone. It's not like I'm some child you need to take care of" with that said I get up and walk back to that room.

That night while I'm in bed I think about what I'm gonna do next week for the dance. As I'm about to go to sleep for the night there's a quiet knock on my door. I get up and walk over to it and open it. There stood the last person I expected to see at my room.
